Guest Author: Dixie Lynn Dwyer

DLDwyer-Escape from ObsessionI am excited to welcome author Dixie Lynn Dwyer, who is here today to discuss her American Soldier Collection – Escape from Obsession, Mastering the Art of Love, Amazing Grace, and Blue Collar Girl.

Gia Marie Giselli’s boyfriend wanted to share her with his business partner, and she refused. She leaves New York the moment she gets a chance and heads to Houston, Texas. With the help of her cousin Teddy, a detective there, she finds a new home and tries to put her past behind her.

In Texas she meets Garrett, Wes, and Gunny McCallister. Her world and impression of ménage relationships are turned upside down. They want her, and as they try to convince her that this relationship is serious, some jerk from work attempts to assault her, making all her fears of men resurface.

When they finally get through that incident, Gia’s past reemerges. Can the McCallisters keep her safe and convince her that true love and compassion don’t come in the form of fists, control, and fear?

Note: There is no sexual relationship or touching for titillation between or among siblings.

My name is Dixie Lynn Dwyer,

I have been writing mainstream romance novels for the past ten years, but writing erotic romance for four. I have published more than two-dozen erotic romance novels with Siren publishing as an exclusive author. I am a romantic at heart. I love describing those first instances of attraction, the skin-to-skin contact and the power of lust and love. I believe in writing about empowered women, and strong, passionate men with the ability to overcome their own hidden fears, and learn to trust the woman of their destiny.

I am considered a best selling, and exclusive author on Siren Publishing and am completely humbled by this. When I first started out, as many other authors out there, there was just the hope that readers wouldn’t hate my stories or my writing. As the first reviews began to surface, and I mean real reviews by real readers, I was pleasantly surprised. You see, anyone who knows me, knows that I am very critical of my own work. I analyze, then over analyze, and aim for perfection. Over the years, I have learned that there is no such thing. When a writer writes from the heart, and is enthralled in the story and the characters, then that is the recipe for success.

I had started out writing what I loved reading at the time, which was paranormal, erotic romance. I published Were She Belongs, with Siren Publishing and it was an instant success. As readers demanded to know more about the characters, I jumped into writing my first series. This book was followed by, Were Love Found Her, and then, Were Love Conquers All. All of these books reached number one position on Siren.

As I look back at those starter books now, I can see how much I have grown as an author, and a creative writer.

I rely a lot on my readers, their e-mails, encouragement, as well as their expressed desires for what they look for in the perfect erotic romance novel. My readers are my motivation, and they are so dedicated to me, I feel honored, and truly try to bring them the great stories they want.

I was so excited about their responses, and desires for more books, and was so into my craft, I leaped into writing more, and more. The ideas, and the characters, continued to assault my mind. It sometimes felt like they demanded that their stories be written. So, the next sets of book series emerged. Orchidea-Love on the Bayou Series, The Town Of Pearl Series, FIVE-O-Series, The Sinful 7 Series, and then, The American Soldier Collection Series.

I continue to write more books for each of these series, and work on other stories and ideas for future books. In September I will be releasing Power Surge-The Billionaire Club, a mini Series with Siren. A five book series about ten men, finding their perfect woman to complete them. They realize pretty quickly, that money can’t buy you everything, and especially, not true love.

Trying to write successful stories, filled with all the things that readers want like strong, complicated characters, dominant men, empowered women, full, intriguing plots, engaging back drops, and interesting secondary characters, is not an easy task. For anyone out there that writes, or wants to give it a whirl, there are important tools to live by.

Do your research. It may be fiction, but adding authentic facts, adds to the characters and their journey. Believe in the characters that you are writing about. Describe them in a way that gives the reader the ability to envision them in their head, and even think about them long after the story has ended. Never leave any unanswered questions or situations. If you brought it up in the story, complete it, even if the detail feels minor to you. Readers pick up on everything, so wrap it all up in a tight, pretty bow. Give them the complete package, or they may not attempt to read another one of your books again. Most importantly, write from the heart. You have to believe in the characters and the story you are writing about, or your readers won’t be able to.

I would like to leave you all with an excerpt from a recent release in the American Soldier Collection- The Greatest Fight of All.

Excerpt from The Greatest Fight of All

DLDwyer-Greatest Fight of AllAmelia Jennings fights for a new life. All alone, after losing her brothers and father to the consequences of war, she evades an abusive relationship. She fears military men, dominant men, and especially men who like to fight for a living, just like her ex-boyfriend.

As she tries to adapt to her new life, she attempts to avoid her best friend’s brothers, who turn her on in a way she definitely isn’t used to. Mènage relationships are common, but these particular men scare her and remind her of the past she is trying to forget.

The Haas brothers, Murphy, Waylon, Brody, Ricky are tough, set in their ways, and now interested in their sister’s friend. Amelia is the only woman to get under their skin. She fights them tooth and nail, evades their every attempt at seduction, and makes them want things and feel things they never thought they would. They want her in their bed, and their claiming ownership. Standing in the way of happiness is her past, and one man who vows to get her back.

Note: There is no sexual relationship or touching for titillation between or among siblings.

She decided that coffee would help clear her head before she took a shower. She walked through the hallway and into the kitchen, halting as she saw the large, shirtless man standing there. She gasped and Waylon turned around to face her.

He looked her over and widened his eyes.

“Morning.”

“Uhm, what are you doing here?”

He turned on the pot of coffee then walked closer. The man had a gorgeous chest. It was lightly dusted with hair that led down to his jeans. He was so defined, and she gulped in appreciation of his sculptured body. He was a boxer and had a rigorous workout routine. She knew enough about that from Mano.

The thought placed a heap of fear into her gut as she turned to look away.

“You were kind of out of it last night. My brothers and I were worried that you could hurt yourself during the night,” he said then looked at her from head to toe. Instantly her nipples hardened, and she realized she shouldn’t be standing here half naked.

He looked her over again. “You make it a habit of walking around in your panties?”

“No, I don’t. But then, this is my place isn’t it?” she asked with attitude then walked around the island, away from him, and reached up to grab two mugs for the coffee.

“I appreciate you staying. It wasn’t necessary.”

“I thought otherwise.” They held one another’s gaze.

“I don’t need a babysitter, Waylon.”

“You did last night.”

“Really?”

“Sure did. You stripped down to your thong panties and bra that covered hardly anything in front of a bunch of drunk cowboys. You’re lucky we were there.”

She slammed her hand down on the counter then stalked toward him.

“Get out, Waylon. I don’t sleep around.”

There was a knock at the door, but before she could move, Waylon grabbed a hold of her camisole and pulled her toward him. He lifted her up, placed her onto the counter and pressed his body between her thighs. She grabbed onto his shoulders, and now was almost face-to-face. He still towered over her.

His hand moved behind her head as he gripped her hard.

“You need looking after. You’re not going to flaunt this sexy body all over town.”

“I can do whatever I want to do,” she retorted and he ground his teeth before he pulled her closer and kissed her hard on the mouth.

In a matter of seconds he was shoving his tongue between her teeth, and they were battling for control of the kiss.

He made love to her mouth like no one ever had before. He was relentless in his strokes, combined with the exploration of his hands.

She grabbed onto his shoulders. Raised her knees and pressed them against his ribs. His hand grabbed her ass und squeezed her toward him. She ran the palms of her hands up and over his biceps, his shoulder and neck, feeling the power and the muscles beneath her fingers.

In the distance she heard the door close and she knew his brothers were there and her pussy clenched then released her arousal. She moaned into Waylon’s mouth and tried to pull back. He wouldn’t allow it. He held her head and face between both hands and continued to kiss her until she could hardly breathe. When he finally released her lips, they were both panting for air.

He stared at her with frustration in his eyes. “You drive me fucking crazy.”

“You started it.”

“I finished it.”

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
