Shifty Quick

Rachel Vincent has the cover for Shift posted on her forum. I did have it posted here, but after seeing that it was posted on the forum, I didn’t really read anything else and just grabbed the image. So you’ll have to wait for a bit more before I can share it unless you’re a forum member. This is the fifth book in the Werecat series and I can’t wait for it to come out next year.

Gotta love my husband.  He found this article, Mathematical Model for Surviving a Zombie Attack, for me via Slashdot.  Granted, their solution to fending off a zombie is the obvious “hit hard and hit often”, but anyone reading UF/Horror would already know that.

Have you been waiting for the next Chloe Neill novel, Friday Night Bites?  Well, you won’t have much longer to wait since it’ll be out October 6th. Chloe Neill has also revealed the titles for the next two Chicagoland Vampire novels – Twice Bitten and Hard BittenTwice Bitten will be released July 2010 and Hard Bitten will be out later in the fall of 2010.  However, before both of those, we have Chloe’s first YA novel, Firespell, out January 5, 2010.

Interviews:

SciFiGuy has another great Weekend Report, with lots of information.  I don’t want to repeat a lot of it since I know everyone reads him as well.  So if you don’t, get over there.

I’m not sure how accurate this is, but I’ve been seeing it all over the place.  It appears that Robert Downey Jr. is in talks to play Anne Rice’s Lestat.  There’s only one article everyone is talking about, the news was posted first on Bloody Disgusting, so I’m not sure how accurate it is. However, the buzz is that Bloody Disgusting is generally pretty spot on.  I’m a fan of Robert Downey Jr. (did anyone else see him play Charlie Chaplin???), so I’m hoping this rings true.  However, I haven’t heard which Rice novel is getting adapted to the film.  One thing, don’t get your hopes up too high.  If it’s true, the movie isn’t going to be made anytime before 2012.  Downey has 6 different movies in either the announced, pre-production or post-production stage.  He’s a busy man right now.

Shiloh Walker is looking for some help.  She’s wondering if there’s a character from her Hunter series that hasn’t had a book yet and you really want there to be one.  If there is, head over and let her know.

Bitten by Books has reviewer spots open.  If you’ve ever wanted to start reviewing books for a great site, you should check out BBB.

Karen Marie Moning has posted an excerpt for Dreamfever.  Fair warning, it’s an audio excerpt.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I saw Rachel Vincent’s cover on her group member’s only page also but she specifically asked noone to post it yet before she gives the ok. She wants to send out the newsletter and show it to everyone herself first she said. Just letting you know. :(

  2. When I saw the news about Robert Downey Jr playing Lestat, I had mixed feelings. I adore RDJ, but… Lestat is blond, dammit!

    *ahem*

Oh, I have a contest running through 7 pm CDT, August 24, for five copies of Rita Herron’s latest paranormal romance, Dark Hunger.

  3. Jax, Rachel specifically said at the forum NOT to post Shift on blogs – so The Pride members can see it exclusively. I strongly suggest you take it the cover off LE until Rachel says it’s okay.

  4. I changed it! I was quickly doing this up earlier before I left for a meeting, so I really didn’t read anything beyond her saying she had it up on her forum. It’s gone.

    Sorry Rachel!!!

  5. Yes! I just got Rachel Vincent’s newsletter in my email box a few hours ago…and the cover looks AMAZING! I think it may be my favorite cover out of all of them, so far, lol. I’ll probably post it in my Friday Finds this week..I haven’t posted one of those in awhile, but everyone should know about Shift. I guess, since she posted in her newsletter already that she wouldn’t mind us forwarding the info now..right? …
