Look Who’s Going to RT: Kevin Hearne

Kevin HearneCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
Sure. I’m the author of the Iron Druid Chronicles (Hounded, Hexed, Hammered, TrickedTrappedHuntedShattered), a series about a 2,100-year-old Druid who’s been hiding out from Irish gods that want to kill him. Before all of that, I was a high school English teacher, so the series is full of mythology, literary allusions, and the occasional bad pun.

I can be found at: Website | Blog | Facebook | Twitter | GoodReads | Tumblr

Can you introduce us to the world(s) that you have created?
The series begins in Tempe, Arizona, near the Arizona State campus, and I use real-world locations wherever possible. Atticus O’Sullivan decides to stop running from the Irish gods and discovers that he’s a bit more powerful now than he realized. The consequences of standing up to the gods, however, kind of snowballs on him and he’s soon dealing with more than just the Irish pantheon. Luckily his Irish Wolfhound, Oberon—with whom he can communicate telepathically—keeps him grounded and concerned with important things, like food.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
First RT! Some of my author friends have been telling me to watch out, it can be crazy, but I think they’re trying to mess with me.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to or are planning on attending?
Yeah, I have two on Thursday and I will pretty much be trying not to squee the whole time. Take it for granted that beneath my calm exterior I am an electric ball o’ squee. I feel tremendously fortunate to be sharing a conference table with authors like Chloe Neill and Diana Rowland.

Is there anything in particular you’re looking forward to or experiencing while in New Orleans?
I hope to enjoy some jazz and explore the French quarter. I hear I’m supposed to try something with crawfish in it.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Look for the friendly sausage guy! That will, uh, make more sense when you get there. I’m actually doing this button scavenger hunt thingie with 11 other authors, like Jaye Wells, Liliana Hart, and Nicole Peeler, and my button is of an extremely amiable sausage. My understanding is that there will be a sort of author bingo card in everyone’s swag bag, and if you go around snagging buttons and signatures from all 12 authors, you get a chance to win a Kindle Fire HD and maybe other goodies. Plus you get to meet 12 kickass authors. I’ll be tweeting my location periodically, never fear! Knowing me and my friends, my location will be a bar in or near the hotel and you can probably find several of us at once.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
