Look Who’s Going To RT: Tricia Skinner

Tricia SkinnerCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I’m Tricia Skinner, a Detroiter transplanted to Texas. After spending a few years as a reporter and crossing over to the corporate world, I’ve returned to my love of writing. My main genre is urban fantasy romance. Passion drives my characters, but I make them work for it.

Can you introduce us to the world(s) that you have created?
I torture heroes. I make them earn the love of the woman they want. You can summarize my current Angel Assassins series (Angel Bait) as “four Nephilim survivors, raised by the angel sent to kill them, defy Heaven to save mankind.” Nephilim are half-angel and half-human). It’s set in the gritty streets of Detroit, and I prefer giving readers a multi-ethnic urban fantasy world. My two titles for Entangled Publishing will be released in April (Angel Kin) and August 2014.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
Total RT noob. I’ve wanted to attend the conference for a while because I’m a huge book nut. This year, I’ll attend as an author, which feels like marking an “X” next to “go to kick ass convention” on my bucket list. I expect the show will blow me away as a reader and writer. I’ve only heard good things about past conventions.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to or are planning on attending?
I’m not a speaker, but the list of workshops and presentations is fantastic. The show has a topic or event for everyone.

Is there anything in particular you’re looking forward to or experiencing while in New Orleans?
New Orleans reminds me of Detroit. They’re cities that have been beat up, stomped, and tossed in a corner, but they don’t stay down. Hurricane Katrina couldn’t kill New Orleans spirit. Bankruptcy won’t murder Detroit. I guess I’m just looking forward to being in a city that will never die.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
