Look Who’s Going To RT: Hanna Martine

Hanna Martine

Hanna MartineCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
Hiya! I’m Hanna and I write sexy, emotional romances in which the characters always come first (insert dirty joke here). Sometimes my stories have magic, sometimes they don’t—I like to dabble in various sub-genres. I used to work in an office but I left in order to show my daughter what it means to go after your dream. I love bar stools, the imaginary world, travel and my friends. Though I live outside Chicago, my heart resides in Australia.

I can be found at: Website | Tumblr | Facebook | Twitter | Google+ | GoodReads | Pinterest | Amazon

Can you introduce us to the world(s) that you have created?
I write paranormal romance (sometimes it is described as more urban fantasy romance than “paranormal,” which is totally fine by me). My Elementals series follows the various races who command elemental magic (water, air, fire, earth, spirit) as they navigate prickly relationships with each other and try to hide their existence from the world. The latest book (third in the series), DROWNING IN FIRE, is an enemies-to-lovers/reunification story between the leader of the water elementals and the disgraced general of the fire elementals that he never stopped wanting.

I also write hot, fun, flirty contemporary romances. If you’re a little worn out on those super dark, angsty contemporaries and want to try something new, my first novel in that sub-genre, LONG SHOT, has a fiercely independent and driven woman, and a good-guy hero who loves to wear a kilt. My second full-length contemporary releases in December and is tentatively titled HOT RUGBY PLAYER AND THE WHISKY CHICK*. Need I say more? (*That’s not really the title.)

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This will be my third RT, although I still feel like an overwhelmed newbie. Everyone seems to know everyone else! My best times have been when I’ve attended panels and started up conversations with someone next to me. Everyone goes to panels because of a mutual love of the speakers and it’s a welcoming atmosphere.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to or are planning on attending?
I’m not speaking on any panels, but I’m going to be in these other places:

Club RT: Wednesday, May 14, 3-3:30; and Thursday May 15, 2:45-3:15. I’ll be giving away free copies of the first books in my paranormal and contemporary series, LIQUID LIES and LONG SHOT. (Did I mention free books?!)

I’m going to drop by the Penguin Spotlight on May 15, and also the Penguin Lemonade Social on May 17.

Of course I’ll be signing at the Giant Book Fair and I believe I’ll be at the FAN-tastic party, too!

Is there anything in particular you’re looking forward to or experiencing while in New Orleans?
I’m just looking forward to seeing the city in a way that is actually, you know, fun. Back when I was working, I had to go to New Orleans many times for trade shows, so I’m afraid my memories of the city are stained by seas of men in khaki pants and golf shirts, and me having to stand in a boring booth for days and days on end. Now I get to be with FUN people! Yay!

HMartine-ShoesIf someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Look for these shoes! My husband bought them for me for Christmas and they are divine. I plan to wear them as much as possible in New Orleans. (As well as other fine footwear. I try not to disappoint in the shoe department.) I am really 5’5”, but I tend to wear shoes that make me 5’10”-ish.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
