I know I’ve been a little sporadic with my Weekly Geeks posts, some of the themes just haven’t been “me”, but I’m back with this weeks theme. It’s one I’ve been thinking about lately and Weekly Geeks is giving me an excuse to write about it. Here’s the details:
I think just about every reader has a least one book that they’ve been meaning to read for awhile (months or even years) but, for one reason or another, they just haven’t gotten around to it. Maybe it’s a book a friend recommended last year, or a title you’ve flirted with in a bookstore on more than one occasion, or maybe it’s a book that’s sitting right there on your bookshelf, patiently waiting for you to pick it up — but the thought is always there, in the back of your mind: Why haven’t I read this yet?
This week, tell us about a book (or books) you have been meaning to read. What is it? How long have you wanted to read it? And, why haven’t you read it yet?
What books have I’ve been meaning to read, but haven’t gotten around to yet? Where do I start? I’m a huge fan of Carrie Vaughn and I couldn’t wait until Kitty Raises Hell came out. I went out and bought it the day it was released. It’s still sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read. Why haven’t I read it? I couldn’t tell you. For some reason, I haven’t picked it up yet. The same is true for Katie MacAlister’s Up in Smoke. I love the Aisling Gray/Silver Dragons world and I just haven’t been in the mood for it. That’s been a lot of my reading problems lately. My TBR shelf is overflowing and I have no idea where to start! I’ll go out and buy books I’m dying to read, stick them on my shelf to read after I finish whatever I’m curently reading and then I end up forgetting them. I think a lot of my problem is that the shelf is very intimidating. With so many choices, I have no clue where to start. I mean, how do you chose between Bad to the Bone by Jeri Smith-Ready and The Vampire Queen’s Servant by Joey W. Hill? Or how about Wages of Sin by Jenna MacLaine and The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers by Angie Fox? That’s not even counting the books that haven’t come out yet. I so can’t wait to read Blood Promise by Richelle Mead and Doubleblind by Ann Aguirre. There are so many great books out there, how do you determine which ones to read first and which can wait? If you have to ask me, that’s probably the #1 problem every book lover has – there are just too many great books and so little time to read them.
So I really have no excuse as to why I haven’t read them yet except for the fact that I have a huge number of books I want to read, sitting on a shelf, waiting for me to get to them. So what books are sitting in your TBR stack/shelf/box/etc and why haven’t you gotten to them yet?
