FEATURE & FOLLOW Friday: Meet My Girls, River & Aya

Parajunkee FF Featured BloggerThe Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

The goal is to increase blog followers and make friends. First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

This week I’m participating in Parajunkee’s View and Alison Can Read‘s weekly Feature & Follow Friday. Normally I don’t participate in memes/hops/etc, but this one is actually a rather unique one. It’s probably the only one I have been following for awhile now and I’m excited to be this weeks featured blogger. As a featured blogger, I had to answer 5 questions:

  1. When did you start blogging?
  2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
  3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?
  4. What is your favorite book(s)?
  5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

If you want to see what I said, you’ll have to go check out Parajunkee’s View and Alison Can Read.

Now the nature of Feature & Follow Friday is to discover new blogs, and to do that, each site that wants to participate has to post about #FF on their site by answering one question. This weeks question:

Have any pets? Tell us or show us.

Which means this week I get to talk about the only other girls that reside in my house. This is actually pretty well timed since we just celebrated River and Aya’s first birthday. They joined our family last year and we’ve been counting our lucky stars ever since.

River Aya.01River Aya.02

RiverWe picked up River at the Detroit Zoo’s Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo adoption event, and if you’re in the Metro Detroit area, you should totally check it out. A ton of the local shelters bring their lonely furry babies, hoping to find homes for all of them, and last year River was one of 400 animals that found a new home. She instantly captured Jesse and Monkey’s hearts when they picked her up and she cuddled right down and didn’t move. She is still so lovely and most definitely Jesse’s baby. Whenever he sits down, lays down, or even goes into the bathroom (she loves playing in the water), she not too far behind.

AyaAya joined our family quite unexpectedly. We were taking River  to get her latest shot when the Vet happened to have just acquired a little silver girl who was found on a street corner. She hadn’t been there long, but we were looking for a companion for River and when Aya was perfectly content to be held by a 2.5yo Psy, I fell in love. If River is Jesse’s little girl, Aya is most definitely mine. She’s often found snuggled up next to me or fighting with Psy over who gets to sit in my lap.

In case you’re curious, River is not named after a body of water, but for River Song. The Monkey loves him some Doctor Who. Aya is named after a certain Green Lantern AI. Psy has a thing for the GL corp. *grin* And yes, River is sporting the tardis and Aya the GL symbol on their tags. What can I say, we’re a geek household. *grin*

For those interested in participating in this week’s Feature & Follow, all you have to do is show us your own pets, then come back and join the linky list.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Aww! Cats are my favorite. I love how they choose you. They’re selective with who they love. And geek families are the best. On Benny’s Adoption papers I changed it to Sir Benjamin Coffin the Third (lemme know if you get the reference ;) ) and I love that you named your cat River. Rose was always my favorite companion though.

  2. I love your adoption stories – absolutely adorable! And I absolutely love symbol on their tags, cute and nerdy. The picture combination! They are very cute cats though and I can imagine snuggling with them is just perfect :)

Feel free to stop over and check out my babies!

  3. Not much of a cat person, I tried it once and we didn’t click..lol. Your cats are cute though I always think they are cute as long as they are not mine..I am more of a dog person. :) Happy Friday! New follower.

  4. Congrats on being a Feature :) Your cats look adorable and the stories of how they came to you are really sweet. More people should get their pets from shelters, I think. Also, Doctor Who is a great source to get names from!
Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great weekend!
