The Saint by Tiffany Reisz

TReisz-SaintRaise your hand if, like me, you’ve been salivating while also pacing and anxiously awaiting The Saint, the first in the Orignial Sinners: The White Years (aka the prequel novels to the Original Sinners series) by Tiffany Reisz. Well, the wait is finally (nearly) over and Reisz delivers yet another captivating and spellbinding story. I swear, I never thought I could have loved Søren more than I did before. *swoon*

Before she became Manhattan’s most famous dominatrix, Nora Sutherlin was merely a girl called Eleanor…

Rebellious, green-eyed Eleanor never met a rule she didn’t want to break. She’s sick of her mother’s zealotry and the confines of Catholic school, and declares she’ll never go to church again. But her first glimpse of beautiful, magnetic Father Marcus Stearns—Søren to her and only her—and his lust-worthy Italian motorcycle is an epiphany. Eleanor is consumed—yet even she knows being in love with a priest can’t be right.

But when one desperate mistake nearly costs Eleanor everything, it is Søren who steps in to save her. When she vows to repay him with complete obedience, a whole world opens before her as he reveals to her his deepest secrets that will change everything.

Danger can be managed—pain, welcomed. Everything is about to begin.

I fell in love with Tiffany’s writing from page 1 of The Siren, which is the first book in the Original Sinners series. And now, 5 books (several novellas and freebies from her website) later, I’m still in love with her writing and it has only gotten more captivating. I could not and did not want to put The Saint down.  I love the way she weaves in religion (and hey, I’m not really a big fan of religion in my romance fiction!) along side some pretty steamy sexy times. Reisz truly knows how to tell a good story.  The Saint continues that style which makes a reader feel like they aren’t reading a romance novel, but yet are…all at the same time.  Beware, though, The Saint doesn’t have quite as much sexy times, since the main focus is on Nora’s teen years, with the main story being when Eleanor first meets our beloved Søren.  But don’t fret, I promise you, you will get some steamy times, just not exactly with who you think *G*.

That said, Tiffany kept a promise she made when I saw her at the signing for The Mistress. I got LOTS more of a certain character, and truly this made me smile throughout the entire book. I simply adore this character. And no, I’m not ruining the surprise, but it isn’t Søren, though after seeing how he treated Eleanor, I love him even more.

One other point, trust Tiffany at the beginning.  You may have a slight WTF moment as you begin The Saint and may have an urge to dash back to your copy of The Mistress as you may feel you’ve lost your ever loving mind because you sure as heck did not remember *that* happening. Hey, I’m all for a re-read, so go right ahead. But, if you’re like me and were torn, take my friend’s advice (and now mine) and just keep reading. All will make much more sense in the end. Oh, and have tissues, you’ll probably need them.

Simply put, The Saint is more of that pure literary genius we came to expect from Reisz with the first Original Sinners novels. I can’t wait for The King and to continue the journey of a young Eleanor and how she becomes our beloved Nora Sutherlin (and really, I mean I can.not.wait—I wants it NOW ha ha!!). And if you haven’t yet read the Original Sinners, please do yourself a favor and speed over to your nearest book vender and splurge. Go ahead, you deserve it–just don’t forget your copy of The Saint!
