About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Binding the shadows by Jenn Bennett. “Complete shock severed my connection to the moon magick, and the woman disappeared in a flash.”

  2. Interestingly enough, my next paperback read (aka the book in my purse) is Gena Showalter’s Black and Blue. I reorganized my bookshelves and found books that I’d stashed away and forgot about!

First line of chapter 2: “After an hourlong meeting with Michael, Solo, and John, Blue received a new assignment: Operation Dumpster Dive.”

  3. Since I like these types of questions, and to test the captcha, I’m going to play along too.

My kindle is the closest thing next to me, so I have a few books next to me, but the last one loaded was THE GIVEN by Vicki Pettersson: “The nightclub possessed the sultry warmth derived from quickened breaths and writhing bodies, along with the irresistible pulse of a rockabilly beat.

  4. Betrayed book 2 Road to Redemption by Nicky Charles
Sam stood at the far end of the hallway, listening to Dante move about his room

  5. The Ophelia Prophecy.
“When Iris turned her scowl Asha’s direction, Asha rose to her feet before anyone else could lay hands on her.”
Love Gena’s books, always such beautiful romances.

  6. “The gang closed in on the woman from two sides, leaving her nowhere to run but toward the alley.”
    Shadow’s Curse by Alexa Egan

  7. Uhm my whole bookshelve is next to me, so i picked Jeaniene Frost – Twice Tempted. Also a very hot (might say burning) book ;D
The first line is:”This is the only thing that hasn’t sucked so far about Romania,” my sister stated as she unloaded a stack of clothes in front of the cashier.

  8. Cressida Cowell’s “How to Train Your Dragon”

“You have probably guessed by now that Hiccup was not your natural Viking Hero.”

  9. “Berserker Base” a collaboration by Poul Anderson, Edward Bryant, Larry Niven, Fred Saberhagen, Connie Willis and Roger Zelazny

“Aster’s Hope stood more than a hundred meters tall – a perfect sphere bristling with vanes, antennae, and scanners, punctuated with laser ports, viewscreens, and receptors.”

  10. How to Seduce a Vampire (Without Really Trying) by Kerrelyn Sparks. I love the Love at Stake series!

“From him perch high on top of a craggy peak, Zoltan surveyed the countryside around him.”

  11. Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter. First line of chapter 2…They were dead.

  12. Better Than Chocolate, a kindle book, and the chapter 2 line is “I swung open the door to the room and pocketed the keys.”
I have 12000 plus books on my kindle, and don’t remember the last time I read a paperback. Interestingly, I found Diana Gabaldon, the Outlander series while spring cleaning, so they are the next adventure for me. It’s been years since I read them and am excited to revisit this compelling, bewitching, can’t put the book down to find out what happens next! I wonder who is going to make supper for the next month, hmmm. Time for freezer casseroles.

  13. Finding Pride; “By the time Todd brought her a plate of food, the room was full of strangers.”

  14. This is a car, this is a train, this is a bus…. Skull and crossbones means poison…. Shh. Be quiet. – Written In Red by Anne Bishop

    Love Gena. <3
