Twitter Chat with Ethan Sullivan of House Cadogan

Chloe NeillTo celebrate the Tuesday release of the newest Chicagoland Vampire novel, Blood Games, I cornered the delectable Ethan Sullivan of Cadogan House and convinced him to do a a quick Twitter Chat this past Thursday. Man did we have a blast. There were so many great questions and I just couldn’t help but share the fun.

While Merit didn’t choose to become a vampire or Sentinel of Cadogan House, she vowed to fight for her House and its Master, and she’s managed to forge strong alliances with powerful supernaturals across Chicago. But even though Merit has had wild adventures, this may be her deadliest yet….

A killer is stalking Chicago, preying on humans and leaving his victims with magical souvenirs. The CPD hasn’t been able to track the assailant, and as the body count rises, the city is running out of options. Vampires and humans aren’t on great terms, but murder makes for strange bedfellows. Can Merit find the killer before she becomes a target?

Below you will find the questions that were asked on Thursday as well as a few exchanges that were done during the chat. If you were able to join us on Thursday and don’t see your question answered below, it’s coming. All the unanswered questions have been passed along to Cadogan House and Ethan will be giving us his answers on Tuesday. So make sure you come back to see what he has to say. We’ll also be giving away a signed copy of Wild Things!

@LiteraryEscapis: Hello everybody! Ethan Sullivan of @HouseCadogan is here to answer all your burning questions.

@HouseCadogan: Good evening, Novitiates. — Sullivan

@LiteraryEscapis: For our first #askEthan Q1: Ethan, when are you planning on asking Merit to marry you?
@HouseCadogan: A1: When I’m certain she’ll say yes. ;) — Sullivan

@LiteraryEscapis: Q2: What would you do if Merit accepted when you joke-proposed?
@HouseCadogan: A2: Things which are inappropriate to mention in this venue, and likely illegal in several states. ;) – Sullivan

@LiteraryEscapis: Q3: Oh really liege, you wouldn’t think it would be funny if Merit turned the tables on you? I’ve seen your hijinks.
@HouseCadogan: A3: Merit undoubtedly has her sarcastic streak, but I believe she recognizes love for love. —S

@chloeneill: From my perspective, Ethan faux proposes because a certain someone (@utildayael) did that to me. ;)

@LiteraryEscapis: Well said. Fine…how about this Q4: Does the idea of being a parent scare you?
@HouseCadogan: A4: With Merit? No. But of one of Merit’s children? A little. ;) But I fear there are roads to be crossed first.

@LiteraryEscapis: Q5: Would you have dated Merit if you met her as a human?
@HouseCadogan: A5: I did meet her as a human, there in the dark and grass, and found her lovely. I’d seen her before—just a glimpse—after I’d spoken with her father. I was . . . intrigued. But a Master dating a human would be difficult. Dangerous for them, and potentially deadly. So that would have factored.

@LiteraryEscapis: Q6: If you were intrigued, why did you turn down her father’s offer to turn her into a vampire?
@HouseCadogan: A6: B/c while she should have been Grateful I saved her life, it should have been hers to give, not father’s.

@LiteraryEscapis: Q7: When Merit tell you of the prophecy and the child what was the first thing that came to your mind?
@HouseCadogan: A7: That such a thing would be impossible . . . and impossibly wonderful. And s/he might be stubborn. ;)

@LiteraryEscapis: With this in mind Q8: How are you feeling about Merit’s revelation in regards to a child?
@HouseCadogan: A8: Excited and tremulous. There is much to be excited and terrified about. — Sullivan

@LiteraryEscapis: On a different note liege, Q9: Can you raise both eyebrows independently or are you limited to just one?
@HouseCadogan: A9: – I can only raise one. Although why my Novitiates find it so fascinating is beyond me. They have a drinking game, but believe I don’t know about it. Naive Novitiates. — Sullivan

@LiteraryEscapis: Q10: Do you know if you have any human relatives alive today? From your sisters?
@HouseCadogan: A10: *Expression darkens* I do not know, and have not looked. That was…a different time.

@LiteraryEscapis: Q11: Did you ever once go back to your family, in the beginning to see them? When and why did you stop?
@HouseCadogan: A11: I have seen them, yes. But they did not know.

@LiteraryEscapis: To get off this dark topic Q12: What is your favorite food that Merit has introduced you to?
@HouseCadogan: A12: She would likely say anything I don’t eat with a fork. ;) I would say deep dish with bacon.

@LiteraryEscapis: Since you mentioned bacon…Q13: what do you think Merit loves the most, you or bacon? What about you or Mallocakes? #AskEthan
@HouseCadogan: A13: *Serious expression* That may be the most difficult question you’ve asked. My money is on Mallocakes.

@LiteraryEscapis: Really? *pondering* @Merit_Sentinel puts you above bacon then, right?

@HouseCadogan: : I’m presuming Mallocake wins it all. *ducks*

@Merit_Sentinel: Well, it certainly does *now*. @HouseCadogan I’m presuming Mallocake wins it all. *ducks*

@LiteraryEscapis: For our final question Liege Q14: How many times have you raised your eyebrow at @LiteraryEscapis cocky queries?
@HouseCadogan: A14: I have no idea what you’re talking about. *wicked grin*

@LiteraryEscapis: Sadly, that was the last question for our #askEthan chat tonight. Our Liege has business to attend to. I would like to thank Ethan Sullivan of @HouseCadogan for stopping by Twitter tonight and allow us to #askEthan anything.

@HouseCadogan: Thank you very much for having me. It was a pleasure. — Sullivan

Meet Chloe Neill!

Chloe Neill is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Chicagoland Vampires and Dark Elite series. She was born and raised in the South, but now makes her home in the Midwest–just close enough to Cadogan House and St. Sophia’s to keep an eye on things. When not transcribing Merit’s and Lily’s adventures, she bakes, works, and scours the Internet for good recipes and great graphic design. Chloe also maintains her sanity by spending time with her boys–her favorite landscape photographer/husband and their dogs, Baxter and Scout. (Both she and the photographer understand the dogs are in charge.)

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
