Revenant by Larissa Ione

No no no NO…I’m in denial. This CANNOT be the end of the Demonica series. *pouts*. This is one of my fave PNR series, as is the spin-off, Lords of Deliverance, and you bet I took my time savoring Revenant by Larissa Ione.

LIone_RevenantHELL HATH NO FURY . . .

For five thousand years, Revenant believed he was alone in the world, a fallen angel beyond any redemption. Now he finds he has a twin brother who had all the light and love Revenant was denied. Caught in a tug of war between Heaven and Hell, he must weigh his thirst for revenge against his desire for a mysterious female named Blaspheme-a female whose very origins could deliver him into salvation . . . or destruction.

LIKE AN ANGEL SCORNED

Blaspheme has a deadly secret: she’s the forbidden offspring of an angel and a fallen angel. Hunted by both heavenly and satanic forces, she has survived only by laying low and trusting no one. When Revenant claims he can save them both, how can she possibly believe him? But the powerful angel is persistence incarnate and for Blaspheme, there’s no place she can hide in Heaven or Hell where he won’t find her . . .

I love this series and am so sad that it’s ended, but did Larissa ever deliver one helluva bang to send it out with!

SPOILER!! You’ve been warned!

So we know Rev and Reaver were twin brothers who’d been separated at birth.  To say they’re completely different…but still so alike, is an understatement! Larissa delivers great tension between not just Rev and Reaver, but Reaver’s kids…our beloved Four Horseman. I love how Larissa weaved Rev’s tale and his history which really ramped up the tension.

I liked Blaspheme well enough, but she let her fear dominate her. On one hand, I could totally understand. Growing up how she did, and with what she believed, she had a reason to be so distrustful. On the other hand, it was kind of annoying as it made her come across as weak, but it was clear she was anything but weak. I also really liked that she took things slow with Rev…making him earn her trust rather than just jumping in head first.

One of the things I guess I kind of didn’t like was the lack of all the Seminus siblings. We see a lot of E and some of the Horsemen and see peeks of Reaver & Harvester…but we don’t really see any of the other demon siblings. It made me sad since this was the finale.

However, Larissa wraps up the over-arching plot and gives us finality with Revenant.  And I’ll only say that there’s a certain character that gets their due *wink*. Though, I could see a return in the far future to this world, and one can only hope.  So, thank you Larissa for a wonderful ride, it’s been awesome!
