Swerve in the City of Blades Immortal Heights

RJBennett-City of BladesIt seems like I’ve been missing out on quite a bit of fantastic things lately; I haven’t been reading my blog feed in quite awhile and I miss it. While it doesn’t seem like that’s a big deal, for long time readers of LE, it actually is. That’s where all the news/newsletter posts came from. My obsessive compulsive need to stalk my RSS feed and see what the 200+ were saying. Time, sadly, is a bitch and real life decided to be demanding (having 2 active boys is exhausting!). Now that the boys are in school and are able to occupy themselves, I’m trying to get back to it.

So here’s the first of what I hope to be the return of the weekly news posts. Some of the news may be a bit old, but it caught my attention in my feed. I’m not completely done with my re-immersion, so I’ll have more early next week. To get us started, I recently added 300+ new titles have to the 2015-2017 Release Dates page! Some of the new and/or updated titles include:

Vampire Book Club has an exclusive excerpt from Chloe Neill’s new Chicagoland Vampires release, Dark Debt.

Yasmien Galenorn has a couple of snippets posted from her first Fly by Night novel, Flight From Death, which releases July 7th.

Jennifer Estep announced that she’ll be starting a new series beginning with Cold Burn of Magic, which will be released April 28th, and you can read the first chapter now. The second novel, Dark Heart of Magic, will follow on October 27th.

Tor/Forge has posted a sneak peek at A Scourge of Vipers by Bruce DeSilva, which releases April 7th.

I’m so excited! Lauren Dane is giving us the first chapter to the final O’Hurley Boys novel, Back to You, which releases

Author Appearances

SThomas-Immortal HeightsThere are always fabulous covers popping up and I simply can’t post them all, so here’s a select few that have caught my eye. To see even more, head over to facebook or google+, where I’ve added a few more that are interesting and eye-catching for your viewing pleasure.

The next Hidden Legacy novel by Ilona Andrews has a title – White Hot – and it’s available for preorder!

Chloe Neill is looking for help naming the audiobook version of her Chicagoland Vampire novella compilation. The audiobook will contain the two stories Lucky Break (Ethan & Merit) and Howling For You (Jeff & Fallon). Whoever submits the winning title will receive the complete Chicagoland Vampire audiobook collection.

Nalini Singh has shared the blurb for her next Guild Hunter novel, Archangel’s Enigma, which releases September 1st.

Naasir is the most feral of the powerful group of vampires and angels known as the Seven, his loyalty pledged to the Archangel Raphael. When rumors surface of a plot to murder the former Archangel of Persia, now lost in the Sleep of the Ancients, Naasir is dispatched to find him. For only he possesses the tracking skills required—those more common to predatory animals than to man.

Enlisted to accompany Naasir, Andromeda, a young angelic scholar with dangerous secrets, is fascinated by his nature—at once playful and brilliant, sensual and brutal. As they race to find the Sleeping archangel before it’s too late, Naasir will force her to question all she knows…and tempt her to walk into the magnificent, feral darkness of his world. But first they must survive an enemy vicious enough to shatter the greatest taboo of the angelic race and plunge the world into a screaming nightmare…

Jaye Wells has a new site for her Prospero’s War series – Magic Enforcement Agency. If you’re new to the series, or not familiar with it at all, this is a great place to start. There’s a lot of world building information as well as some fun extras that should really hit big with established readers.

Speaking of Jaye Wells, make sure you’re at a computer March 29th. Jaye will be participating in the Read For Pixels Google Hangout  with The Pixel Project at 8.30pm EST. This is the first I’ve heard about it, but the Pixel Project seems like it’s something that should be on everyone’s radar.

The Pixel Project  presents the “Read For Pixels” Google Hangout series featuring live Google Hangout Readings with award-winning bestselling authors in support of the Celebrity Male Role Model Pixel Reveal campaign, which aims to raise US$1 million in aid of The Pixel Project and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. We’re kicking off 2015 with our first special International Women’s Day edition of “Read For Pixels” featuring female authors including Alexandra Monir, Charlaine Harris, Christina Lauren, Diane Chamberlain, Elizabeth Bear, Jane Green, Jaye Wells, Kami Garcia, Lauren Beukes, Marie Lu, Seanan McGuire, Sherrilyn Kenyon, & Yasmine Galenorn.

There are some amazing authors scheduled to appear all month long. The Read for Pixel Google Hangout series occurs every weekend in March and has Diane Chamberlain appearing tonight at 8:30pm EST, Alexandra Monir tomorrow night at 6pm PST, and Charlaine Harris Sunday night at 7:30pm CST. Don’t be shy, check out the full schedule here. Here’s the video from last Sunday when Sherrilyn Kenyon kicked off the event.

Richelle Mead has revealed some travel plans for this spring. Sadly, she’s not coming to Michigan, but if you’re in the Los Angeles (CA), Tacoma (WA), Dallas (TX), and New York City areas, she’s heading your way.

Kim Harrison has announced the description for the first novel in her new Peri Reeds series. It’s not much, but what we have to look forward to when The Drafter releases September 1st.

The Bourne Identity meets Minority Report in this first highly anticipated installment in #1 New York Times bestselling author Kim Harrison’s sexy new suspense trilogy, featuring a brilliant special task agent at the top of her field and set in a futuristic Detroit.

It seems like there is a never ending supply of fabulous new stories being released each week; but Supernatural Underground points out 5 reasons why we shouldn’t forget about our old favorites. Why re-reads not only guarantee an entertaining read, but actually benefits our emotional and mental health.

Orbit has announced that David Dalglish will be publishing a new series. Skyborn will begin the new Seraphim series on November 17th.

Io9 is starting to wonder if DC Is Creating A Justice League In The ARROW Universe, and I have to say, I can see it. They make some very valid arguments about why this could actually work; especially if they’ve been planning this all along. Supergirl just started filming, so there’s another element that could be thrown into the mix. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes. Plus, now I’m feeling the need to watch Smallville again.

VPettersson-SwerveVicki Pettersson has revealed her latest project – her first foray into the world of psychological thrillers with Swerve, which will be released July 7th.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
