Shameless Self-Promo & Gibson Winner

So let’s start out with the shameless self-promo.  My husband just published his first book via Lulu.com.  It’s not fiction or anything, but more of a notebook for musicians.  Here’s the blurb he wrote:

Many guitarists never bother to learn musical notation- instead they learn to read guitar tablature, a notation designed to help quickly and easily read music with very little training. The Guitarist’s Tab Notebook was designed to be a journal for guitarists, regardless of experience level. The first few pages contain several useful diagrams and tidbits to help the player write their own music, while the rest provides a place to jot down chords, solos and lyrics. This book is meant to be written in, so get busy!

The Guitarist’s Tab Notebook by Jesse Morgan is now available to purchase, so if you know of any musicians who might like this…hint hint.

It’s time to announce the winner of the Jayel Gibson contest and again I have to say I’m going to be jealous of whoever walks away with the print of her cover art. It is simple gorgeous.  That lucky winner, thanks to the Research Randomizer is….Kimberly B.  Congratulations!

I’m sure most of my readers have noticed that my news posts have been a little slim for the past couple of days.  Well, some of that is based on the fact that there isn’t much going on right now, plus my laptop has gone in to be services.  Laptops and 19 month old boys do not mix well, so that means all of my links are missing at the moment.  I’m still posting everything I find, but if you don’t see something here for a couple more days, now you know why.  I’ll still have the next issue of the Escapist Newsletter out on the 1st.

Are you evil?  Do you want to be a member of the Evil League of Evil?  Well, they are now accepting applications for new membership.  The deadline for applying is Oct. 11th and once they determine who the best applicants are, your video application could end up on a special DVD commemorating the most recent member.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. ok, since none of you appear to asking questions about the book, I’ll field some imaginary questions:

Nicola O: Your husband will love it- buy him 5.

carolyn: I’ve been told my several other guitarists that this is actually a useful book and one even said he wished he had it when he started learning. I suggest you take up learning guitar and buy 10.

Ladytink_534: why tell him? Just go ahead and buy him 20- he’ll love it.

And that’s all for the Q&A- may sure to buy several for your favorite guitarists!

In all seriousness though, I’ve completed the full notebook version as well as a small, portable pocketbook version. The pocketbook version is available on amazon, but I get a larger cut if you purchase it at lulu.com
