Sunday Surprise!

For the first book, I really can’t find any kind of synopsis for it, but Terrifying Tales: Stories of the Occult from Around the World by Terri Hardin (978-1-435-11680-1) looked like it would be really interesting and I still wanted to share it. As soon as I find something more, I’ll update the post. And since Amazon did not like a couple of these books, I’m including the ISBN numbers this time around.

The Monster Book of Zombies: Tales of the Walking Dead by Stephen Jones (978-1-435-12049-5)

Death is not the end! If you are too rational to believe otherwise, then we invite you to read the stories collected in The Monster Book of Zombies. Here are tales of the walking dead reanimated by black magic, weird science, outer space viruses, and plain old human irresponsibility. No matter how they are resurrected, all indulge in malevolent mischief and mayhem that will make you think twice about dismissing the dead as done.

The twenty-six zombie tales gathered here cover more than a century and a half of horror history, and show the many aspects of this nightmare of the living dead in all of its gory glory. Soulless, mindless, and unstoppable, the zombies that shamble through these stories are sure to strike terror into the hearts of the most hardened horror reader.

Beware the walking dead!

Featuring stories by: Clive Barker, Joe R. Landsdale, Robert Bloch, H.P. Lovecraft, Ramsey Campbell, Brian Lumley, Les Daniels, Edgar Allan Poe, Brian Lumley, Manly Wade Wellman, and others.

Real Vampires, Night Stalkers and Creatures from the Darkside by Brad Steiger (978-1-578-59255-5)

A chilling chronicle of the often ignored history of vampirism as it has surfaced repeatedly in news articles, historical accounts, and first person interviews, this shocking account of occultist rituals and the inhuman forces that influence them shines a light on the horrifying truth. Revealing that real vampires are not immortal, do not have fangs or sleep in coffins, and have no fear of sunlight or crucifixes, the examination dispels many myths but also confirms the truth behind several traits of real vampires, such as the insatiable thirst for blood and the dream of an eternal soul. Complete with 30 spine-tingling tales of the hideous wraiths and creatures that lurk in shadow, this fascinating collection includes the stories of the Mexican prostitute who mesmerized an entire village, convincing them she was an Incan goddess who required human sacrifice for her magic; the three teenagers who left a trail across the South as they conducted blood-drinking rituals with animals; and the mysterious Lady in Black who draws psychic energy from men who dare approach her as she wanders through city streets and parks.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
