I am excited to welcome author Heather Long as she celebrates the release of her Wolves of Willow Bend novella, Single Wicked Wolf. She took on our Second Sight challenge and is introducing us to Giovanni through the eyes of Felisa, the welcome agent at the Aer Italia First Class Lounge at Leonardo Da Vinci Airport, Rome.
This single, wicked wolf is the perfect boyfriend, but just who is she fooling?
Murphy DeWitt enjoyed two years working as an assistant to a diplomatic attaché touring American consulates in Europe. It was a dream come true, and a hell of a learning experience. A master of languages, she knows how to get her point across. Romance, however, proves to be a tongue twister. Now en route to Willow Bend for a friend’s wedding—without the make-believe boyfriend she created for her family—she debates how to confess her deception. Luckily, her flight includes a fantastically hot wolf that leaves her breathless and contemplating all kinds of naughty things.
Giovanni Conti thrives on protecting others, as a Centurion for the Seven Hills pack in Italy, it’s his pleasure to serve his Alpha wherever he is needed. Dispatched ahead in preparation for the Alpha pair’s trip to Willow Bend for a wedding, he has no problem entertaining the sexy wolf he encounters in the airport. The last thing the playboy wolf expected, however, was to find Murphy the most captivating chase of his life…
Sight Seer from Single Wicked Wolf
Working in the first class lounge gave Felisa a window into the lives of wealthy extravagance and hardworking businessmen. Each day she stepped inside the hallowed halls, she recalled her training—always provide the customers with a yes, even when the answer was a no. Always provide them with extraordinary service, going above and beyond was the expectation and she needed to fulfill it and then some. To say she enjoyed her work would be an understatement; she thrived in the privileged atmosphere. Her long-term goals included providing such excellent service one of the customers would snap her up as a personal assistant, then she could travel the world with them. Customers like the delicious Giovanni Conti—pure charm and devastating masculinity wrapped in an extremely handsome package—who stepped into the lounge even as she gazed at the door.
A girl could dream.
Lust and hope coiled together in her belly, only to clench with disappointment as he guided a woman inside. The curvy brunette with her deeply tanned skin tone and tense frown held nearly all of the sexy passenger’s attention.
Dammit. Every other time he’d come in, it had always been in the company of other gorgeous, powerful men. The one time a woman had been with him, she’d clearly been cleaved to one of his companions. Disappointment curdled her excitement, yet when he glanced at her she had to suppress a shiver. Too quickly his attention returned to his companion.
“Let me have your boarding pass for a moment, cara.” His voice was a pure invitation to sex. How could the woman at his side resist?
“Why?” Suspicion darkened his companion’s tone.
Forcing her gaze to the computer screen in front of her, Felisa fought to project an air of disinterest. Their customers needed them to be attentive when they required something and to fade into the background for everything else.
Yet she couldn’t help but gawk when Giovanni smiled and the corners of his eyes crinkled. “So I can keep you forever and always in the lap of luxury.”
Felisa fought a swoon, barely registering the woman’s clearly American accent or her obstinate refusal to submit to the powerful Italian at her side.
“Tough.” A compliment roiled in the singular word. Thankfully, Felisa spoke English nearly as well as Italian, French and Japanese. Her heart twisted at the way Giovanni turned the single syllable into a caress. “It is so they can notify us when boarding begins, so we may enjoy our time without staring at a watch.” He pressed closer to his companion and no amount of strain carried his words to Felisa, but when the woman at his side shivered, a shudder rolled along Felisa’s spine.
Did his breath tickle when he was that close? Did it tease? What magical words did he say to her? The other woman locked gazes with her briefly, and Felisa dropped her attention to the computer. Staring was definitely a no-no…but she would give anything to trade places with Giovanni’s companion.
“Grazie.” His voice whispered over her and when Felisa dared a peek upward, she found Giovanni gazing at her, the same playful smile on his lips. Her thoughts fled and her heart skipped a beat.
Yes, she would give anything to trade places…
