Wicked Lovely by M. Marr

It’s been an odd couple of weeks. For some reason, i just haven’t been able to get into any of the books I have been reading and I really needed something. After all the praise I kept hearing for Melissa Marr’s Wickedly Lovely, I decided to pick it up since it has been sitting on my desk for awhile.

At this point, I am kicking myself for waiting so long.  I loved Wickedly Lovely;  I ate it up within hours of picking it up. The story revolves around Aislinn who has been able to see the Fae all her life.  She has seen them at their worst and when she gets targeted by their Summer King as his next “girl”, she starts running.  With the help of her friend, Seth, Aislinn begins to try and figure out a way out of this new ordeal.

I’m having trouble writing this review.  I am not sure why since I really enjoyed it, but the words are not coming to me.  The characters were awesome; we were given enough to get to know them without being bombarded with useless information.  The plot kept going at a steady pace and we were never left behind or sped past any events.  The entire flow of the story was perfect and it just captivated me from the beginning.

Overall, I think I enjoyed this novel too much.  I know that I loved it and I have already requested the second novel in Marr’s Faerie series, Ink Exchange, but all I can really say about it right now is that I love it.  Maybe in a few days I’ll be able to sum up my impressions on the novel a little more eloquently; however, for now, you’ll just have to live with this – get your hands on a copy of Wickedly Lovely.  It is captivating, engaging, and you won’t regret reading it.

I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. YA fantasy writers are producing some incredibly good stories. Aislinns sense of loss after losing her humanity was especially poignant. Ink Exchange is equally good.

  2. I’ve read ink exchange and I didn’t like it. My friend told me about the third bookk and I’m shocked about it . Yall have to read the third book. At first I didn’t like the thought about faeries but now I love readin about them.I borrowed my friend’s books so I gotta wait till she finishes the book so I could read it.
