julia-talbotAs one of the #CMCon17 featured bloggers, I get to have a little fun with a few of the fabulous authors who will be hitting the beach for Coastal Magic 2017 by showcasing their many stories. We had so much fun with last year’s At the Beach feature, that we’re doing it again.

Today Julia Talbot is taking us to the beach with Jed and Eli from Jumping, Landing and Taking; so if Padre for a Week gets your interest, make sure you check out the Thatcher Brothers Collection.

Padre for a Week

jtalbot-jumping-landing-taking“You think those little umbrella drinks come in super sizes?” Jed Thatcher looked over his sunglasses at his very oiled, very tanned smokejumper, admiring how the man was still stacked to the freaking ceiling.

“I think you need to just stick with the coconut filled with rum and shit.” Eli grinned back at him, lazing in his lounge chair and looking like a natural. No one would ever know this was both of their first trips to a sandy beach with warm weather and fruity drinks.

Eli had been born in Oregon and Jed had traveled in the army, but this was… Well, North Padre Island felt totally decadent. Jed’s brother in law, Tank, was from Texas, and some friends of his had loaned them a condo. For a week. A freaking week with no one calling them to work a training or to advise on a fire…

Damn, he had no idea what they might get up to here.

Jed figured he had a pretty good idea of what he wanted.

He glanced down where his knees were starting to turn pink. “Wanna put more sunscreen on me, Mister?”

“Oh, Thatcher, I thought you’d never ask.” Eli scooted down on the lounger and sat up all the way, reaching for Jed’s admittedly blinding white legs. He was a Levi’s kinda guy. Year round.

Only time his pasty skin down there saw the sun was when him and Eli skinny dipped and there was a pretty short window for that in Cedaredge, Colorado, altitude 6300 feet. He grinned, then moaned when Eli touched him, hands slick with suntan lotion.

All these years together and he never got tired of that sensation. That moment when Eli’s touch landed on his skin never failed to thrill him.

“So, what’s my reward for keeping you from turning purple?” Eli asked.

“Mmm. How about I suck you when we go back inside?” He did love oral.

“Deal.” Eli rubbed his legs, fingers digging in, clearly meaning to massage and love on him.

Jed curled his toes, then let them loose, goosebumps rising on his skin. “Oh, good. Glad I have something to offer that you still like.”

“Thatcher, I still adore all the things.” Eli glanced up at him, those pretty eyes gleaming for him.

“Mmm. After all this time?” He fished for compliments and he knew it, but they weren’t getting any younger. A man had to take what he could get.

“Anytime and everytime.” Eli rubbed all the way up to his thighs, crowding up to block the sun with those broad shoulders. “Good thing this is a private stretch of beach.”

“Not that private,” Jed warned.

“Private enough to kiss you,” Eli said, then set out to prove his point. He kissed Jed silly before moving back to finish spreading a big handful of sunscreen.

The cold stuff made Jed’s nipples draw up, and he gasped before reaching up to twist one of Eli’s in retaliation.

“Vicious man,” Eli teased before sobering. “Happy, Thatcher?”

“Never been happier in my whole life,” Jed said, and he meant it. He loved this man so much.

“Ditto,” Eli murmured, then rose and held down a hand. “The best sun protection is to go inside.”

He took Eli’s hand. “I like the way you think.” The beach could wait. They had all week, after all.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
