Maid Sama! by Hiro Fujiwara

As one of my Hulu recommendations, I have to say Maid Sama! by Hiro Fujiwara really hooked me. It was just what I was looking for – a quirky #comedic #romance that was light and engaging.

I made the mistake of watching the first episode at 11pm, because the next thing I knew the sky was getting lighter. It has been awhile since a show (or book) has had me up all night, devouring each new chapter. Sadly the anime does not cover the entire manga series, but I was able to find it on kindle! Which meant the next night I was up reading until the hubby dragged me to bed (he wasn’t amused that it was 4:30 am at that point). The chemistry between all of the characters really brought the story to life, and the series plot wasn’t as predictable as I thought it would be. I do wish there was more to the final volume, but I’m never happy when a series ends, so that’s not an uncommon feeling. :)

Brilliant and overachieving, Misaki Ayuzawa is the President of the Student Council at Seika High School, formerly a boys’ school. Unfortunately, most of the students are still male and stuck in their slovenly habits, so man-hating Misaki really socks it to ’em in an attempt to make the school presentable to attract more female students. But what will she do when the sexiest boy in school finds out that after school, Misaki works in a maid cafe.

Can Misaki trust Usui to keep her secret from the rest of the kids at school? And why the heck is he always showing up at the maid café? Maybe she should start taking him seriously when he says he likes her—especially when he throws in an unexpected kiss!

There are nine volumes in the Maid Sama! series.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
