7 Random Things About Me

Samantha tagged me for this meme and I’m going for it since it’s easy enough.

  1. I’m a certifiable bookworm.  Well, I guess you probably know that already if you’ve been a reader for awhile, but I tend to read A LOT.  Even when I was in school.  I remember getting in trouble for reading during class one time.  We were given some extra time at the end of the period to work on our homework.  Well, instead, I decided to read and save the homework for our seminar (study hall) since we’re suppose to bring work for those.  The teacher wasn’t quite taken with that logic, but since she was also my study hall teacher, she went with it.  Also, you know how parents will ground kids from the television, going anywhere, or from the computer?  Never once got grounded for that.  My parents took away my books.  They knew that would hurt me worse.
  2. I’m going to stand up with Sam and announce that I too am a library addict.  I love going there.  Just to browse through all the titles and see what’s out.  Ian even loves going there.  The library we go to has this awesome youth room that is aimed at children Ian’s age and he just has a blast there.  Ian and I will make weekly trips to the library and stay for an hour or two just browsing and playing with the toys.
  3. I am a huge firebug.  I love fires.  Probably wouldn’t make me a good vampire though.  I love camping for this reason.  I could sit around a campfire and do nothing but stare at it.  There’s just something so mesmerizing about a fire that’s relaxing.  My husband is the same way and we have a group of friends who are just as much of a firebug as we are.  We used to get together and have what we called “Wonko Burning” Parties (wonko is a friend of ours and it was at his brother’s house) and we would make these huge fires in this little fire pit.  One night, we went through 7 bottles of lighter fluid.  Of course, this was all before Ian was born and we moved away from the area.
  4. I’m a huge teen film junkie.  I’m talking about all those teeny bopper movies and television shows like Hannah Montana (Billy Ray Cyrus has gotten hot), My Life with Derek, Mean Girls, The Prince and Me, and The Princess Diaries (this was on Disney just the other night).  My husband thinks they’ll rot my brain, but they are fun and quirky.  It’s kind of like brainless entertainment where you know there’s going to be a HEA and everything will work out right.
  5. I hate to vacuum, but I don’t mind sweeping.  It’s odd, but I would rather use a broom and dustpan than try to lug around a vacuum cleaner.  There’s just something about sweeping that is kind of relaxing and you kind of know that you’re getting the floor clean.  It may not be perfect (I’d have to mop for that), but you can see that you’re getting the dirt off the floor.  Where, with a vacuum, you’re only assuming.  I don’t know if that’s it, but I hate to vacuum.
  6. I love to cook, but more especially, I love to bake.  Hence the reason I’m now a Pampered Chef Consultant (although I haven’t officially started, I’m thinking I’ll start on Dec. 1st instead of Jan 1st, so if anyone wants to host a show, I’m booking them now).  I’m always looking for ways I can play in the kitchen, without having to actually eat what I make.  Thankfully, my husband and his co-workers love to play test subjects with me.  I’ve sent in so much food with Jesse that his colleagues have come to ask what I’m planning next.  Currently, it’s a double layer pineapple upside cake with a pineapple mousse.  I think I’m going to make it next week, so we’ll see how it turns out.  If you’re interested to see what else I’ve done, I also have a cooking blog where I throw up recipes that I’ve tried and enjoyed.
  7. I can be very indecisive.  It’s probably one of my husband’s biggest peeves with me.  It takes me forever to make up my mind, even with something as simple as picking out what to have for dinner.  A lot of times, I just really don’t care or everything sounds good, so I never now which way to go.  I tend to be a very laid back kind of gal.

This was actually harder than I thought it would be.  What useless information would I want to share that wouldn’t be completely boring?  Or completely book related.  I think I came up with something worth knowing.  :)

Now it’s my turn to tag a few friends and they are: Rachel at American Bibliophile, Amber at Amberkatze’s Book Blog, Nicola at Alpha Heroes, Rachel at Bitten by Books and Rhinoa at Rhinoa’s Ramblings.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Yeah, my mom took away my books once as punishment too and I drove her nuts until she gave them back. Needless to say, I just got grounded from the TV and stuff after that. I can live without TV, do it fairly often, but not my books!!!

I’m really big on Disney movies, animated or otherwise. I love “family friendly” movies and nothing can make me feel better after a bad day faster than one. I have seen Mean Girls and liked it but not any of the other ones yet.

I hate to sweep and would rather vacuum and also, I don’t enjoy cooking at all (which works out nicely because I married the pickiest eater alive) but I LOVE baking. That’s what I find soothing but I don’t do it nearly as much as I would like to.

  2. You have a food blog! I’m going to have to check that out. I’m really bad at cooking but always willing to try. I watch Hannah Montannah with my son all of the time :) And I thought it was hard to come up with 7 things for this meme too. LOL!

  3. The food blog isn’t as involved as this one is. It’s more of a place to share what I do and since I’m not always baking, it’s not that big yet.
