Red Lies

Sherrilyn Kenyon is pairing up with Dianna Love again with Whispered Lies. The novel is due to come out May 12, 2009, but this is all I know.

Jeri Smith-Ready will be signing books this Saturday at Waldenbooks in Cumberland, MD, along with several other local fantasy/science fiction/horror authors.

Interviews:

  • Suzanne McLeod, author of The Sweet Scent of Blood, by Love Vampires
  • Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan in Twilight, by the Los Angeles Times

Suburban Vampire is asking How is the recession affecting your book-buying habits? Has it slowed you down, or will you always make sure you set aside a little extra for a good read? For me, it’s not the recession that has slowed me down in my book buying sprees, just more responsibility.  Back in 2005, I was able to buy the entire LKH Anita Blake series all in the same month without Jesse batting an eye.  At that time, Ian wasn’t around and it was only Jesse & I, so we had more financial freedom.  Now we do have a child and we have to think about him more than ourselves.  So while the recession may have affected us a little, it really has nothing compared to the impact Ian has had.

Check out what I found over at Urban Fantasy Land. It’s the cover for Red Tree by Caitlin Kiernan. I’m not familiar with the author, but this cover is kind of cool. I like it and it’s getting added to my TBR list. It’ll be released on August 4, 2009

Cheryl Brooks is guest blogging over at Bitten by Books today.

Ilona Andrews is giving away a copy of Brent Week’s The Way of Shadows.  Again, another author I’m not familiar with, but he has been popping up all over the place.  I keep seeing his name everyone, so I’m really going to have to get my hands it since it is the first book in his Night Angel trilogy (read order: The Way of Shadows, Shadows Edge, and Beyond the Shadows).

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
