Guest Author: Alexandra Ivy

Literary Escapism is excited to welcome author Alexandra Ivy to the floor today. Alexandra is getting ready to release the fifth novel in her Guardians of Eternity series, Darkness Unleashed, which, I am currently eating up.

A scarred recluse, Jagr makes no secret of his disdain for others’ company. But now, as a member of Chicago’s powerful vampire clan, he has certain obligations to fulfill. The latest: track down a missing Were pureblood and return her to her sister. The problem: Regan Garrett has no intention of complying. And though Jagr agreed not to harm an inch of this stubborn female’s distractingly tempting body, he’ll gladly kiss her into submission, awakening an urge he hasn’t felt in years. hell, in centuries…

Regan vowed never to be at the mercy of another man. That goes double for arrogant, steel-muscled vampires with eyes of ice. All Regan wants is revenge against those who imprisoned
her. She doesn’t need an ally. She certainly doesn’t need a mate. But soon soon Regan will have to choose–between a lust for vengeance, and a passion as dark and dangerous as the night…

Seduction Has a Dark Side…

Don’t tell me this doesn’t intrigue you. Want a chance to win a copy of Darkness Unleashed? Then stick around.

Hello to all and a huge thanks for allowing me to stop by. For those of you unfamiliar with me, I began my career writing historical under the name Deborah Raleigh before deciding to take the plunge into contemporaries. I started writing the first book just for my own pleasure, trying to discover what I liked to read. Slowly I developed my own voice and my own world and the Guardians of Eternity were born (well, in a manner of speaking). When Darkness Comes was the first book in the series published back in 2007 (jeez where does time go?) and it introduced a clan of vampires in Chicago (yummy, tasty, oh-my-god-gotta-have-me-some vampires). Each of the books is stand-alone although the previous characters tend to pester me until they are allowed an appearance. Darkness Unleashed is the fifth book in the series that has grown to include werewolves, demons and a host of other-worldlies with the starring role going to Levet who is a miniature gargoyle with a prima-donna attitude, an unpredictable talent for magic, and an overriding dream of becoming a game show host!

When I first started the series I really had no idea of what I wanted to do beyond sharing my love for the combination of paranormal and humor that Buffy captured. Don’t get me wrong, I love a dark, angsty hero as much as the next reader, but while my current hero, Jagr (Darkness Unleashed), is certainly dangerous and broody after centuries of torture, there is always a large collection of whacky characters to add a dash of amusement. I also like my heroines capable of kicking some serious butt. The days of a woman being tossed about by fate and waiting for some big, strong hero to come save her are thankfully over (hallelujah). Regan is a heroine who is out for revenge and nothing is going to stand in her way…certainly not an arrogant, insanely gorgeous vampire!

I hope you’ll enjoy the latest installment of the Guardians…I had a fabulous time with Jagr and Regan!

  1. hi,

i prefer my heroes to be whacky and fun because i find that the heroes are more exciting because they are crazy and have an awesome sense of humor that brings the character to life. mystery can also be fun but a hero who can be sarcastic and crazy in a terrible situation makes the book intriguing and more desirable to read, for me, because i want to see if they will be defeated or remebered as an awesome hero who will be missed for being fun and whacky, and being heroic…..

    thanks

  2. I prefer dark and angst. I always want to fix the dark sexy guys with problems.

  3. Whacky and fun because I read mostly to relax and I don’t need angst when I am trying to do that !

  4. I prefer my heroes to be dark and angsty, because they are not simple people in a simple world, they are the most complex beings around.
They need to confront themselves with this!

I’m running for “When Darkness Comes”.

  5. Since Watchmen, the heroes must be dark and angsty or they just seem ridiculous!

I’m up for “When Darkness Comes”.
