Real Vampires Live Large by G. Bartlett

The second Glory St. Clair, Real Vampires Live Large, by Gerry Bartlett was just as fabulous as the first one.  It was a little harder to keep my attention, but I’m working a few other projects at the moment, so it is understandable.

This time around, Glory’s shop gets fire bombed by our psychotic vampire hunter, Westwood, and Blade takes off after him.  However, thats only the beginning of Glory’s troubles when an old lover comes to town, one she has no recollection of at all, who’s working for the vamp drug dealers.  Now, Glory doesn’t just have to worry about a stake toting mortal, but other vampires as well.

Every society is going to have a few who are not happy with what they are dealt with.  How can it be any different with vampires.  A vampire already has eternal live, strength, and a ton of power…what more could they want?  More power of course and a vampire can get that by going to his local vampire VV dealer.  What’s VV you ask….it’s Vamp Viagra.  It’s the drug that is highly addictive and gives a vampire a higher power level.  Plus, it’s produced by draining another vampire of their power and leaving them weak and vunerable.  The fact that it’s called Vamp Vamp Viagra just cracks me up.

The main plot focuses on these VV dealers and I have to say that they give a whole new meaning to annoying Glory.  However, it does give Glory a chance to play with her powers and actually use them.  With Blade off in another country, Glory is also given the chance at a little freedom and she uses it to start a new flirtation, one I’m hoping we’ll see more of.

Overall, Real Vampires Live Large was a fun read and it kept me glued to the book while I was reading it.  This series is continuing to be fantastic and it’s a really good read for anyone looking for a little paranormal action without all the heavy intense drama that is generally associated with vampire fiction.  For this reason alone, I would recommend this to anyone.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
