Teaser Tuesday: Devour

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Here’s the rules:

  1. Get the book you’re currently reading
  2. Open it to any random page
  3. Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page (Be courteous of your readers
  4. You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!

This week’s teaser involves Devour by Melina Morel, which I’m currently reading in preparation for the release of the third novel in the series, Smolder (December 29th).

From page 87:

Pavel had fought Chechen terrorists, Georgian Mafiosi, and a few werewolves in the Moscow suburbs, but to deal with a Montfort was to enter the big leagues. His green eyes nearly sparkled as he smiled with anticipation.

From page 214:

“I know,” he said with a theatrical sigh, “you merely wish to keep me around as your New York fling.”

Catherine burst out laughing. “You can be so maddening at times. Next you’re going to say I want you only as my boy toy.”

“Oh, that, too,” Ian replied with a wicked twinkle in his gorgeous dark eyes.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. My book is outside my normal realm — it’s a fun guide to football for the non-informed, “A Sportscaster’s Guide to Watching Football,” by sportscaster Mark Oristano. Beyond telling you the basics of T-formations and downs, there are also hilarious stories, which is what my teaser is from. He’s in a locker room before a game and sees a lineback drawing on his shoes with a marker. His ankle is taped up OVER the shoe, covering the shoe logo. So he’s drawing it on — and the author says, wouldn’t it be easier to get taped inside and not have to draw on the tape? “Yeah it would,” he replied, but then I’d actually have to wear their damn shoes and I hate ’em. So I wear the brand I like and do it this way instead.”

And I just keep thinking, I wonder how many athletes DO that? I think it’s funny…
