Sunday Surprise!

Awhile back, Ian and I went to a writer’s conference down in Monroe and came across three Michigan authors who had some really interesting fantasy novels for kids. I’ve been meaning to share them with everyone, however they’ve been buried on my desk. I’ve just rescued them from the pile and before they get lost again, here they are:

The Night the King Couldn’t Sleep by Molly Glad

The Night The King Couldnt Sleep was the night that the scribe had to read him a bedtime story… And so begins the journey into a land long ago of castles and enchantment that will leave the reader happily awake and wanting more!

Aware of the Wolf by David Anthony and Charles David (Knightscares #8)

Never Make a Deal with a Dragon. Noah and his sister Naomi think they have problems. When bullies chase them into the deadly needlespine pines, one loud noise could be their last. A boy named Ian rescues them, but he has his own troubles. He has lost his memories and been turned into a werewolf by a terrible curse. To break the curse, the kids set off across the frozen wastes of Neverthaw, land of ice and storm. They hope to make a deal with a dragon. But dragons are cunning and their deals always have a price.

Alien Ice Cream by David Anthony and Charles David
(Heroes A2Z #1)

I Scream, You Scream…… It’s Alien Ice Cream. Traverse City, Michigan is the home to three special superheroes. Meet Abigail, the oldest. When it comes to sports, she can’t be beat. Andrew is her twin. If it has wheels, he can ride it. Baby Zoe is the youngest but also the strongest. Don’t let the diaper fool you. In this first adventure, the heroes try to keep their cool on the hottest day of the year. Soon, however, they discover that not all ice cream is created equal. Some is created by mysterious aliens who have plans to take over the world.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
