First Drop of Crimson Contest!!

I am a huge fan of Jeaniene Frost (if you haven’t guessed that already) and her forum is the only one I’m really active on.  So imagine my shock, surprised and excited face when I found a copy of First Drop of Crimson, the first novel in her Night Huntress World, in my mailbox.  I was giddy beyond belief.  I mean, seriously, doesn’t this sound amazing?

The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows—her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield—and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family’s past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness—and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who lusts for a taste of her.

He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human—even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the nightmare together . . .

Because once the first crimson drop falls, they will both be lost.

It’s Denise and Spade!  For those who have read the Night Huntress novels, both of these characters have appeared there and now we get to read their story.  I will tell you right now, First Drop of Crimson is fabulous.  Not only can it be read as a stand alone, but we’re introduced to demons and the ending is completely not what I was expecting.  I could go on, but I’ll save that for my review, which will go up closer to its release date of February 9th.

However, you’re probably wondering why I’m bringing this up, right?  If you thought I was happy when First Drop of Crimson first showed up, you should have seen my face when the second copy showed up.  That’s right, I have two ARCs of this gem sitting on my desk right now and I don’t need two of them.  So I’m going to give one away.

In order to get your hands on the wonderful novel that is First Drop of Crimson, all you have to do is answer this question: How did you find the Night Huntress novels and Jeaniene Frost?  Did someone introduce her to you?  Did you randomly come across her in the store (much like I did)?  If you haven’t read her yet, what is it about her novels that pique your interest? International entries are welcome, but shipping may be delayed a little! Meaning you might not get it before the release date.

As always, there’s more ways of getting your name in the hat:

Each purchase is worth ten entries, but it has to be through the LE Amazon Link.  If you buy all 4 books, that’ll be 40 entries.

There is one thing I am adding to my contests now…the winner must post a review of the novel someplace.  Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter.  Just help get the word out.

The contest will stay open until January 14th, at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the Research Randomizer and the List Randomizer.

I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

  1. I discovered Jeaniene’s books on accident. Halfway to the Grave was put on the wrong shelf (no joke, in the historical biography section) at my local Barnes and Noble. I’m so glad for the accidental placement! :-)

  2. I discovered Jeaniene’s books via Fangs, Fur & Fey. This may have been a few years ago – not sure when, exactly; my brain is b0rked. I own the first three books, but I haven’t read them yet. (I have a strict reading system.) Have, however, read her contribution to the FOUR DUKES AND A DEVIL anthology – didn’t bother reading the rest of the collection ;-)

  3. I came across Jeaniene’s book while on Amazon purchasing my next Kim Harrison book =)

  4. I ran across the first Night Huntress book while browsing at Barnes and Noble. I have to admit, I sometimes do judge a book by it’s cover-literally. But I do absolutely love the series and I can’t wait to read more!

  5. I came across Jeaniene’s series while looking for books on Amazon. It was a long time ago, so I cant recall which book it was, but I’m so glad i saw Halfway to the Grave. It started me on a fantastic series. I cant wait for FDOC!

  6. Actually I remember the cover but don’t remember where I saw it. Your review here is what has peeked my interest. This really looks like a great book and I would love to read it. Maybe I can win..LOL Thanks for the great contest.

First Drop of Crimson..I love the title and the cover and the trailer.

  7. I have Destined for an Early Grave, but haven’t read it yet because I’m still trying to get my hands on the earlier books in the series first. The thing that made me buy it? I’d heard a few good reviews about Jeaniene’s writing and I came by at a store, so I decided to give it a shot.

  9. Jeaniene Frost’s books were recommended to me on a discussion board after I read the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. I have really loved all of the Cat & Bones books and I can’t wait to see Spade from a new perspective!! I look forward to seeing your review of the book.

Also, I’ve subscribed to your feed through google. (thanks!)

  10. I came across Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress books through being a fan of Melissa Marr. I was such a huge Marr fan, that I read her blog religiously maybe 9-10 months ago. Seeing as Frost is Marr’s crit partner, Marr mentioned her and her novels enough to get me interested. I checked them out on Amazon, liked the sound, and book mooched the first – and fell in love! Jeaniene Frost is now right up their with my favourite authors! I love her novels!

i first discovered Jeaniene’s books while trying to find something new to read. I saw the cover art for One foot in the grave at the book store. I sat down and began to read and just became enthralled with it that I bought the series. I went home and finished both book in one day.

  12. OMG. You have no idea how much I would *love* an ARC of FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON.

I came across Jeaniene’s books while browsing the recommendations list on Amazon. You know the “if you liked this book, check out this book” I went a head and bought all three that was out. Halfway to the Grave, One Foot in the Grave, and At Grave’s End. When they arrived I read them in two days! Could not put them down. They’re my first choice of recommendation now.

  15. Thank you so much for this contest! I actually started reading the Night Huntress novels about two weeks ago (got all 4 of them at the same time!) and was hooked. A good friend of mine had recommended the books a while ago, but I had actually never picked them up. Now I just wish I had done it earlier! Thank you again!

  16. I came across the Night Huntress series one day when I was on the Barnes and Noble website. I had just began reading paranormal romance books and I saw the cover of Halfway To The Grave. It caught my attention and as I read what it was about and saw that it had good reviews so I thought that I would give it a try. I read it in a day and loved it. I was hooked and rush back to the store and got One Foot in The Grave and At Grave’s End.

  17. I have yet to read any of Jeaniene’s books yet but I was lucky enough to win Destined for an Early Grave in a contest. I went out and bought Halfway to the Grave and just haven’t had the chance to read it yet. *I know SHAME on me* I’ve heard absolutely amazing things about her Night Huntress books and how great Cat & Bones are. I can’t wait to start reading about them.

  18. I randomly ran across her very first book at the lovely Walden’s that use to be in Rockefeller concourse. Why do I love it so much because its told from the view point of a woman that truly doesn’t understand the beauty she is inside and out. It is written in a manner in which you can see this beauty through the interaction of the other characters. Its killing me to have to wait until next year for the next installment. I am glad First Drop is coming out to help with the long wait plus I love Spade.
