Pg 56 Line 5

I got tagged by Today I Read for one of those fun memes involving that pesky book that is silently glaring at you to pick it back up.  I love these kind of memes, the one where you randomly look at a page and see what is going on. Generally, I get really interested in the plot and get sucked back in the story (even if I’m not currently reading it) or it won’t make any sense and I start wondering what is going on.  Then I’ll get sucked back into the book.  So either way, I end up re-reading a novel, starting at page 56.

However, since I’m at the parents for Thanksgiving this weekend, I don’t have a pile of books sitting next to me, just the one I’m currently reading, which happens to be Jenna Black’s newly released The Devil’s Due.

Here’s the details for this meme:

  1. Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, and turn to page 56.
  2. Write out the fifth sentence, along with the following two to five sentences.
  3. Pass this along to five blog friends. (What kind of meme would this be if you didn’t require the (un)willing participation of others?)

So on page 56, line 5 – 10, it says:

“So I gathered.”  Raphael’s expression changed, the forced blankess disappearing as a ischievous grin took over his face.  “I suppose there are some advantages in being able to talk to him without him being able to talk back.”

I felt my lips starting to curve into an answering grin, but stopped myself cold.  I was not going to allow Raphael to disarm me.  “So what is it you’re so desperate to talk to him about?”

Now considering that I’m only on page 14, I have no idea what they are talking about, but I’m wondering if it has anything to do with what has been happening in those first 14 pages. It wouldn’t surprised me at all.  I guess I’ll find out once I pick it back up (so you can expect to see a review sometime this weekend).

Now it’s time to see what everyone else is reading….here’s my 5 victims: Nicola at Alpha Heroes, Amber at Amber Katze’s Book Blog, Rachel at American Bibliophile, Patricia at Patricia’s Vampire Notes, Sam at Sam’s Book Blog, Judi at Sidhe Vicious, Tex at Tez Says, and Dewey at The Hidden Side of a Leaf. Okay, so I’m tagging 10 people…if we’re lucky, 5 of them will actually do it.  :)

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
