Legend of the White Wolf by T. Spear

I am always interested in reading something with a little more suspense and Legend of the White Wolf did not disappoint.

In this fourth in Spear’s series, Private Eye Cameron MacPherson and Faith O’Mallery are both on quests that lead them into the world of magical wolves…

Cameron arrives in Maine to search for his partners in his P.I. business who are late returning from a hunting trip. Faith is there to discover what her father had seen in the same area years earlier that had made him lose touch with reality—man-wolves, he called them.

The two tumble into an icy world of enemies bent on destroying the lupus garou kind. As they turn into lupus garou themselves, and bond with the pack that only they can rescue from destruction, Cameron and Faith find their soul mates in each other.

Legend of the White Wolf hooked me from the start, with its action and mystery woven together against the backdrop of a scenic Maine winter. This book has it all; fantasy, suspense and romance with a touch of the paranormal to boot. I only wish I had more time to read this one from start to finish without the interruptions of everyday life.  This is definitely a story that you can feel immersed in as you read it.

The author, Terry Spear, does a very nice job with this novel, and I was most impressed with how she was able to convey the nature of the wolves in relation to their human counterparts. Being the owner of a wolf hybrid myself, I was prepared to look at the story with a critical eye as to how the wolves were portrayed. Any notion of my being critical of the wolves’ portrayal was replaced with the skillful way the story was written, and I found myself captivated with the fantasy of the shape shifting werewolves.

The characters in Legend of the White Wolf were very well written and they developed nicely as the story progressed. My only criticism would be that the only foods the two main characters mentioned and ate at multiple meals were salmon and spinach (my guess is that these were the author’s favorites), however, I am glad the story didn’t include the clichéd “raw meat and wolves” scenario!

I would definitely recommend this book to those who like a good story that pulls you in to the action and intrigue. Legend of the White Wolf is a great addition to the “Wolf” series, and it stands on its own, so you are not required to read the others in the series prior to this one.  Pick this one up!

  1. Karyl, thanks for the terrific review!!! I had to laugh and comment…I’m not a fish eater at all, unless it’s the good stuff like shrimp, scallops, and lobster! But spinach, yeah, I love it! :)

Loved how you have a wolf hybrid. :) A couple of others have told me how they owned them and cherished them. One said hers was the beta of the “pack”–her other two being regular dogs. :)

Thanks again! You made my day!

  2. Great review! I’ve not actually come across this series before but I’ll definitely be getting the first book to try it out :o) Thanks for the recommendation

  3. Glad you liked the review! This was actually the first book I read in the wolf series, so now I’m going to backtrack and read the rest!
