Hell & Sapphires

Tez Says has quite a few new UK covers as well as the US cover for Catherine Fisher’s Sapphique, which appears to be the follow-up to her recent release Incarceron.  Don’t worry if you haven’t read Incarceron yet, Sapphique won’t be released until January 4, 2011, so you still have time.

Interviews:

If you’re a fan of dragons and want to read more of them, SciFiGuy has a great list of dragon-centric novels.

The one and only contest I have for you today is courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy.  Abigail is giving away three copies of Rachel Ward’s NUM8ERS.  Contest ends Mar 19th.

Wow…it’s amazing how much news there isn’t when I get back on top of it.  *grin*  In either case, I have begun reading again (yea!) and I thought I would give you a taste of what I just finished…thanks to the Friday 56 idea, which comes from This is What I Have to Say (and I found via Shiloh Walker’s blog).

But I hadn’t yet let the scariness in my life interfere with the show. In fact, I sometimes thought having the show to focus on saved my sanity. I needed my sanity right now.

The Rules:

  • Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
  • Turn to page 56.
  • Find the fifth sentence.
  • Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog (and the title/author) or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of this blog.
  • Post a link along with your post back to this blog.
  • Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. “When we’re sure she’s clean, then you can have a tea party with her for all I care.”

  2. I’m surprised that you haven’t read Kitty Raises Hell before now. I just got Kitty’s House of Horrors from the library and I cannot wait to read it. I really like this series!

  3. Samantha – I’ve had Kitty Raises Hell, but it’s been buried under all of my “sent for review” copies. I also have House of Horrors, both of the Silver Dragon novels by Katie MacAlister, Jeri Smith-Ready’s Bad to the Bone, Rachel Vincent’s My Soul to Take and a bunch of others I’ve bought with the intent to read, but haven’t gotten to yet. I’ve decided I’m going to take the time and get to them before getting back to reviewing.

  4. Thanks for the linky :-) By the way, FOX 2000 and Seed Productions have optioned film rights for INCARCERON. Check the Variety website – they should have an article announcing it.

  5. “Got it,” I said, and let my human disguise dissolve, wafting away in a wash of copper and cut grass.

  6. “I told him. Better safe than sorry when dealing with the Kin.” I trusted Robin with my life and he’d come through every time.
