Preparing for the April NA Mini-Challenge

In February, as part of the New Author Mini Challenge, I hosted the New Author League of Reluctant Adults Mini Challenge and it was a huge success.  So I’m planning another mini-challenge for April.  This time, it’s going to be a little different, so I need your help.

Here’s the idea, there are a ton of author collaborative sites out there.  I recently asked what some of your favorites were and now I’m going to put them all to the test. For the next 10 days, everyone has a chance to vote for 5 different sites.  Whether they contain your favorite authors or you just like the name, cast your vote carefully.  April’s mini challenge will be pitting the two top sites against each other and since this is a new author challenge, the idea is to read and review authors that are new to you.

There will be a contest, but there is no way I can compete with the generosity of the Leaguers, so this is where the battle comes in.  Of all the participants, one review will be drawn to receive a book of their choice (to wherever the Book Depository ships to) from an author who participates in the site with the most reviews.  Does that make sense?

After compiling a list of the collaborative sites I know of and what everyone has recommended, here are your choices.  Remember, this is a New Author challenge, so don’t vote for your favorite collaborative site, but for a site with authors you’ve never tried before and want to. You’ll only be able to vote once, so chose carefully.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I went with all YA this time. It would be a big change from the last challenge. There are tons of great titles coming out too!

  2. Wow! I’ve only heard of about 5 of these sites. Murderati’s my ultimate favorite and I’ve been working my way through their books. I’ll be checking out the other sites. So much book and author candy!!! Will come back to cast my vote. Thanks!

  3. Oh, I LOOOVE the Oddshots authors, but they’re not new to me! I voted for Deadline Dames. I’ve got Keri Arthur in my TBR, I love Jenna Black (I know that won’t count, but it bodes well for my compatibility with the other authors), and I’m sold on Devon Monk’s series from poking at the website. Lilith Saintcrow might be too scary for me, but maybe if I only read it at lunch time on a sunny day….
