Coming April 1st: NAC Mini-Challenge

A couple of weeks ago, I gave everyone an idea for what I had planned for the next New Authors Mini Challenge. For those who have forgotten, here is the jist of it:

I recently asked what some of your favorites were and now I’m going to put them all to the test. For the next 10 days, everyone has a chance to vote for 5 different sites. Whether they contain your favorite authors or you just like the name, cast your vote carefully. April’s mini challenge will be pitting the two top sites against each other and since this is a new author challenge, the idea is to read and review authors that are new to you.

I know this is coming in a little on the short notice side, but it’s time to announce the two sites who will be duking it out during our April New Author Mini-Challenge: Battle Royale and they are…

Time for the details of the challenge:

  1. You do not have to be a participant of the New Authors Challenge, but if you’re not, why not?
  2. The Challenge will run from April 1st through the 30th. All reviews must have an April 2010 date.
  3. The goal is to read up to 5 different authors from the either list below. Write up a review on your blog and then come back to the official start post and add your link to Mr. Linky.
  4. The idea is to try a new author (it is a New Author mini-challenge), however, if you’ve already read all of the listed authors, you can still participant, but don’t re-read a novel. Try something new. Not only is this an excuse to try a certain group of authors, but it’s also a great chance to help promote them.

To add a little incentive for this mini-challenge, I’m going to offer up a prize too. At the end of April, for every review posted, I’ll give each participant an entry (up to 5) to win their book of choice from an author whose site has the most reviews. The contest is open to wherever the Book Depository delivers.

So who is up for another New Author mini-challenge? If so, sign up with Mr. Linky below.

Deadline Dames include: Keri Arthur, Toni Andrews, Jenna Black, Rinda Elliot, Jackie Kesslar, Karen Mahoney, Devon Monk, Lilith Saintcrow and Rachel Vincent.

Fangs, Fur & Fey has an overwhelming number of authors who contribute, so I am limiting your choices a little. Some of the authors from FF&F are also Deadline Dames, so they’ve been removed from this group. Some of the authors are also from the League of Reluctant Adults and since they were our featured group in February, I’m nixing them as well (sorry guys!). That still leaves you with 53 different authors to try and they are:

RJ Anderson Jocelynn Drake Melissa Marr Tim Pratt
Ilona Andrews Eugie Foster Maria Lima Kristopher Reisz
Jennifer Barnes Diana Francis Marjorie Liu Carrie Ryan
Jes Battis Jeaniene Frost Lisa Mantchev Janni Lee Simner
Steve Berman Yasmine Galenorn Amanda Marrone Ekaterina Sedia
Holly Black David MacInnis-Gill Suzanne McCleod Nalini Singh
Marie Brennan Justin Gustainis Cheyenne McCray Kathryn Smith
Heather Brewer Beverly Hale Patricie Michelle Jeri Smith-Ready
Rachel Cain Tate Hallaway Saundra Mitchell Maggie Stiefvater
Terri Clark Alyxandra Harvey-Fitzhenry Justine Musk Jordan Summers
Megan Crew James Hetley Jill Myles Shanna Swendson
SJ Day John Levitt Marlene Perez Tiffany Trent
Mark del Franco Robert Levy Vicki Pettersson Steven Wedel

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Sadly, I don’t think it will help me with mine. I have more Leaguers on my stacks now and not so many of the these two groups. ;P Good thing I’m not eligible for the contest, I might be in trouble.

  2. I have a few of these authors on my TBR pile so I’ll give this a try. Not sure how many I’ll get through.

  3. What if I read, like, 3 from each group?

I just started binging on Keri Arthur last month! I’ve burned through 3 of the Riley Jenson books already and am dying to find #4… if I review them in April does that count??

LOL, do you have a lawyer I need to check with?

    • You can do that Nicola, but only 5 will count as entries for the contests, however, all six will count towards who has the most reviews. Does that make sense?

  4. What a great way for me to go through my to be read pile. Thanks for the motivation. But I’m now going to be adding new authors, of that I am sure of.

    Thank you!
