Bookish Songs

Is it me or is this not a gorgeous cover?  Suvudu released the cover for the George RR Martin anthology Songs of Love and Death and I so want it!  Take into consideration some of the names that are tied to this project – Diana Gabaldon, Carrie Vaugh, Marjorie Liu and Robin Hobb – you just know it’s going to be fabulous.  Songs of Love and Death comes out in November 16, 2010, but if you want a sneak peek at the stories, Suvudu has the table of contents as well.

Io9 has a really fascinating article on the Google Book Settlement.  They go into a lot of details, including how it all began, and it’s great for anyone who is trying to figure this out. I get how it’s bad for authors, as well as being good, and I can’t say if io9 has a particular slate, but there’s a lot of information if you want it.

Interviews:

SciFiGuy has posted his UF/PNR and S/SF/SFR lists of new releases for April.  He definitely had a few I didn’t have.  Charlaine Harris has a new anthology out?

Amberkatze’s Book Blog is giving away a cover flat for Jeri Smith-Ready’s Bring on the Night.  Contest ends soon.

Bookworms Carnival

Has everyone heard of the Bookworms Carnival?  It’s a great community event that aims to help introduce different readers to new books and blogs.  Each month, two different blogs host the carnival and each carnival focuses on a different theme.

The current carnival is being hosted by Jo at Ink and Paper and she’s currently looking for reviews that spotlight High/Epic/Traditional Fantasy.  She hasn’t said what her deadline is going to be, so if you want to contribute, I would do it today.

If you don’t have anything for Jo, then how about for Nicole’s carnival?  Linus’s Blanket will be hosting the 51st carnival and she’s looking for reviews on novels that are Out of the Comfort Zone: Books You Thought You’d Never Read, But Enjoyed When You Did.
To submit a post, email: nicolebonia at gmail dot com  Nicole’s deadline is April 9th, so you have time to get her your submissions, if you want to participate.

If neither of these work for you, what about the Poetry Carnival, which being hosted by Rebecca from Rebecca Reads (submission deadline April 23rd), or the Arthurian Fiction Carnival, which is being hosted by Nicola at Alpha Heroes (submission deadline May 7th)?

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Thanks for the link, Jackie! And for those other carnival event details. I’ve already sent something to Jo but I think I’ll submit reviews for a couple of the others as well as they sound great.
