Eternal Kiss (Anthology)

I finally finished the anthology The Eternal Kiss, edited by Trisha Telep, and it was a fairly good collection of stories. Normally, I would give you a rundown of all the stories involved, but I did something a little differently this time – I did mini reviewettes of each story, so they’ve already been posted.  As a recap, here they are:

  1. Falling to Ash by Karen Mahoney
  2. Shelter Island by Melissa de la Cruz
  3. Sword Point by Maria Snyder
  4. The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
  5. Undead Is Very in Right Now by Sarah Rees Brennan
  6. Kat by Kelley Armstrong
  7. The Thirteenth Step by Libby Bray
  8. All Hallows by Rachel Caine
  9. Wet Teeth by Cecil Castellucci
  10. Other Boys by Cassandra Clare
  11. Passing by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie
  12. Ambition by Lili St. Crow
  13. All Wounds by Dina James

There were some obvious hits and misses, but for the most part, I enjoyed all of the stories.  There are definitely some that I’m hoping to see more of in the future with their own series – Falling to Ash, Passing and All Wounds – as well as a few that really didn’t sell me on the authors – Wet Teeth and The Thirteenth Step.  That’s to be expected though.  Some authors can really do a mean short story while others can’t.

Overall, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed The Eternal Kiss.  I’m not normally a huge YA fan, so a lot of these authors were unfamiliar to me and this was a really good introduction to a lot of them.  If you’re looking for something easy to read, but really do not want to invest a lot of time, I would definitely pick up a copy of The Eternal Kiss.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
