Can you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
Hi, there! I’m Crystal Jordan. I’m a native of California, but I’ve lived and worked all over the United States. Currently, I serve as a librarian at a university in my home state. I write erotic romance for Kensington Aphrodisia, Harlequin Spice Briefs, Samhain Publishing, and Ellora’s Cave.
Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
Ha! Which one? Most of my books are set in a whole new world I’ve created. My last Kensington release, UNTAMED, is a post-apocalyptic story where the biological weapons of the future morphed everyone into a predatory shape-shifter. My next two Kensington releases are also shape-shifter stories. In SEXY BEAST 9, I have a group of shifters in modern day U.S. where a person’s soul dictates what kind of animal they shift into. My heroine is so mercurial, her soul can’t decide, and she has a lot of fun twisting the shifter king into knots. In PRIMAL HEAT, an ancient alien race of shifters come to earth because their emperor senses that his One is a human, and he intends to claim what’s his.
Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I’m a total virgin. I’ve gotten tons of tips from my veteran friends and the best advice so far will probably be “don’t be shy.” Go up and talk to people…they’re there for the same reason you are. Make new friends!
Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I am speaking on a panel! I’m really excited about it too. It’s with a bunch of authors I’m part of a group website with called “The Smutketeers.” We’ll also have the Executive Editor of Samhain Publishing, Laurie Rauch, on the panel with us. We’ll be discussing how to integrate sex into your world building when you write.
It’s on Thursday, April 29, from 10-11am. Here’s the official write-up:
SEXTOPIA: WRITING SEX SCENES ACROSS THE AGES AND GENRES
THURSDAY: In this comprehensive workshop members of the group blog The Smutketeers, along with their Samhain editor, will discuss the way chemistry, love and, yes, sex are impacted by the world within which you are writing. Do you write historical, paranormals, sci-fi/futuristic, urban fantasy, steampunk or contemporary? Regardless of the heat level, you too can write titillating and believable sex scenes that mesh with and even enhance your worldbuilding, scenes that will leave your readers breathless! Panelists: R.G. Alexander, Eden Bradley, Lilli Feisty, Crystal Jordan, Laurie Rauch (Samhain)
If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
I’m the one with glasses and reeeeeally curly blonde hair! Also, the Smutketeers will be doing Promo Lane on Friday and we’ll be dressed up in steampunk costumes. You can’t miss us!
