Look Who’s Going to RT: Dana Marie Bell

Can you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
My name is Dana Marie Bell, and I write paranormal romances. I’m the author of the Halle Puma series (soon to be in print!), The Gray Court series and True Destiny series with Samhain. I also write the Heart’s Desire series through Liquid Silver Books. I’m happily married, have two children who are mine when good and his when evil, and I’m a lapsed brunette. You can learn more about me and my work at www.danamariebell.com

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
Which one? I’m a series-aholic! My main shifter series, the Halle Pumas, has ended to make way for a full length series titled Halle Shifters. Foxes and Bears and Pumas, oh my. The first book in that series, Bear Necessities, comes out in e-format July 28th. It’s set in the fictional town of Halle, PA with little side trips to the fictional Red Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains. I might introduce some New York or Philadelphia action as well, since a Coyote Pack runs in NYC and has had dealings with the Poconos Wolf Alpha. Not sure yet.

My other shifter series is a little different. It’s called Heart’s Desire, and it’s through Liquid Silver Books. The first, Shadow of the Wolf, was published in e-format December of last year and involves the Beckett boys. The Becketts have been cursed with lycanthropy. Through a spell that allows them to find their perfect mate they’ve managed to find harmony with their wolves. This series involves a lot of magic (witches, wizards and warlocks).

Then I have my fae, The Gray Court series. Book one will be in print May 4th and is titled Dare to Believe. I’m going all out with the fae here. Leprechauns, Sidhe, hobgoblins, Robin Goodfellow, Oberon… if it’s a fairy (and isn’t named Tinkerbell) it will eventually find its way there. The hero of the first book, Leo, runs an event company; Ruby, his heroine, is an accountant on his staff. When his brother is kidnapped he’s forced to reveal what he is to her. It was a blast to write.

True Destiny is probably my favorite series of the bunch, however. It has to do with the Norse Gods living in modern times. They find out that not everything they’ve been told has been true, and the one person they thought they could trust has betrayed them while the one person they vilified the most was an innocent (okay, maybe not INNOCENT) man. The first book, Very Much Alive, was my first foray into menage a trois and I had more fun with it than I thought possible.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This is my second RT, so I wouldn’t label my self a veteran by any means! My advice for those who are going for the first time? Relax and have fun with it. Don’t allow it to intimidate you. This is all about authors and readers having one huge party, getting to know one another, and making connections. (And definitely hit the fairy ball: my favorite party!)

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
Wednesday at 2:30 I’ll be at the Spoonful of Frivolity event! Prizes, surprises, games and whatever else we can cram into the time allotted. Come up with the best (or worst) story first line to take home one of the grand prizes. It’s hosted by Camille Anthony, D. Renee Bagby, Stephanie “Flash” Burke and me!

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
You can look for me at the Spoonful party on Wednesday, Club RT at 11 on Thursday and 3 on Friday, the ebook expo on Friday and the giant book fair on Saturday. I’ll also be around and about on my little red scooter, covered in books.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  3. Thanks! Although I should warn you I don’t look like that picture since this weekend. I wound up cutting off my hair, going reddish-blonde and getting dark glasses! I have to get a new picture done for my profiles, but in the meantime you can check out danamariebell.blogspot.com for what I look like now. :D
