Look Who’s Going to RT: Lauren Dane

Can you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I’m Lauren Dane. I write pretty much across the romance spectrum (erotic to sensual) from small town romance to sweeping futuristics. I love paranormals, contemps, urban fantasy, sci fi/futuristic and spec fic. I’ve been writing full time since 2004 when I sold my first book. I write for Samhain, Berkley and Harlequin Spice.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
I’ve got a few series – my futuristic Federation Chronicles novels (Undercover) are erotic romance with Berkley Heat and are set in the Known Universes – Each world within that is different. Right now, as I type this, they’re headed for war between the democratically modeled Federation ‘Verses and the Imperialists. Lots of drama and suspense. The worldbuilding is very central to each book but they’re all romances.

I also write a contemporary erotic romance series for Berkley Heat set in Seattle – I don’t have a formal series name but others have called it the Brown siblings series (Laid Bare) – as that suggests, the stories are about a family (tattoo artist, two rock stars and a personal security expert) as each one of them falls in love.

For Samhain I’ve written the Chase Brothers series (Giving Chase) – set in small town Georgia. These are sweet, small town romance with a sensual heat level. Very centered around family and friends. I also wrote the Cascadia Wolves books (Enforcer) which I’ve recently spun off into a series called de La Vega Cats (Trinity). Set in Boston with a jaguar shifter jamboree, some wolves and a few witches too, LOL.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This is my fourth RT and I absolutely love it! My advice is to wear comfortable shoes, bring water with you and a nearly empty tote bag for all the swag. Be friendly and open and expect to meet loads of wonderful people. Oh and try to rest, bring some energy bars because you most likely won’t eat right and prepare to sleep for a few days when you get home! Don’t be shy, just walk up and start talking to people. The staff, authors and readers are a truly fabulous group

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I am doing three back to back workshops on Wednesday – one on author online persona and professionalism on the internet, another about writing for digital publishers as well as traditional NY publishers along with the very fabulous Angela James and lastly a workshop on the kickass sci fi/futuristic heroine with Ann Aguirre and several other amazing authors. I’m looking forward to all of them because they’re all topics I’m passionate about and I love the other panelists!

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
I’ll be wearing my name tag, so you’ll see everyone looking at each other’s chests to see who the person is, LOL. I look pretty much like my author shot at my website – red hair, glasses, I often wear vintage stuff to RT if I can because I love it. Please do stop me to say hello and introduce yourselves!

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
