Other Boys by C. Clare

Continuing with The Eternal Kiss anthology, edited by Trisha Telep, the tenth story, Other Boys by Cassandra Clare and she’s not only a new author for me, but one I keep hearing a lot about.

Other Boys is a great introduction to Jennifer.  She has a very sheltered life and she’s at that stage where she wants to rebel.  There is obviously something different about her, but she’s not sure what it is.  She does know that the new boy in school has caught her attention and she’s definitely interested, even if he is a little weird.

I will admit, the ending did catch me a little off guard.  I wasn’t expecting the twist at the end, but I have to say that I really enjoyed how it ended.  Throughout the story, I had a very twilightish feeling about Jennifer’s feelings for her crush, but anyone who isn’t a fan of Twilight would love the ending.  Okay, I’m not saying anything more.

However, I will say that Jennifer’s character was nicely developed…so much so that I wouldn’t mind reading more about Jennifer, especially after the events of Other Boys.  I do wonder if this is the start to a new series or if its a part of a current series that I’m not familiar with.  I’m definitely checking out more by Cassandra Clare.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
