Look Who’s Going to RT: Anya Bast

Can you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
My name is Anya Bast and I write paranormal romance and erotic romance (sometimes even paranormal erotic romance). I’m probably best known for my Elemental Witches series. I live in the country where I am mother to one lively little girl and a whole mess of rescued animals, mostly cats. I’m currently writing the Dark Magick series, which features a world filled with the fae, and I’m having a blast with it.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
Sure. My new Dark Magick series (Wicked Enchantment) is set partially in a place called Piefferburg. It’s a prison of sorts for the fae, who have been trapped there by a race of druids called the Phaendir, ostensibly to protect humanity from them. Piefferburg is actually a large chunk of North Carolina, and Piefferburg City is roughly the Raleigh/Durham area.

The fae have lived in Piefferburg since the fifteen hundreds and they’ve carved out a home for themselves there, complete with a thriving economy. Piefferburg City is where the majority of the fae are concentrated.

In the center of the city there is Piefferburg Square. At one end of the square is the Rose Tower, where the Seelie Court resides. At the other end of the square is the Black Tower, where the Unseelie Court is located. The two courts are locked in a sort of cold war, united by only one purpose—to break the walls of Piefferburg and gain their freedom. This is their main goal and the overriding plot arc for this series.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
Oh, I’m definitely a veteran. Advice to newbies: wear comfortable shoes, make a personal schedule of events so you don’t miss anything you want to attend, relax and be friendly. Have fun. That’s the purpose of the convention.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
Yes, I have a panel on Wednesday, 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM. PARANORMAL: WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR HAPPILY EVER AFTER NOW OR LATER? A panel of bestselling authors discuss the pros and cons of various types of paranormal romances … from stand-alones to series to serials. The other authors speaking are Eden Bradley, MaryJanice Davidson, and Jeri Smith-Ready.

Let’s see, a couple of the panels I have on my personal schedule are WRITERS BREAK– THE MIND BODY CONNECTION and MUSE THERAPY. And, of course, all the parties. :)

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Well, they should look for a thirty-something blue-eyed caramel blonde who is wearing uncomfortable shoes (I never seem to take my own advice on this score), accompanied by a tall guy with reddish blond hair, glasses, and a Belgian accent. My husband makes me easy to find. Don’t be shy when you find me. I’m really friendly.

Thanks, Jackie! Can’t wait to see you at RT!

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
