Have Some Questions? What Some Answers?

I’ve been mentioning it over the last couples days on Facebook (yes, I am active on FB and often have random contests there), but I wanted to officially announce it here (and to get some help).  While I’m at RT next week, I’ll be conducting in-person interviews with a few authors.  I am both excited and nervous about the whole thing.

However, before the interviews can take place, I need to gather a few questions, well actually a lot of questions.  A couple of the authors I’ll be meeting are new to me:

  • Zoe Archer is the author of Love in a Bottle and Lady X’s Cowboy.  She also has a brand new series starting this fall called the Blades of the Rose, which has a prequel story in Half Past Dead that was recently released.
    • Warrior – To most people, the realm of magic is the stuff of nursery rhymes and dusty libraries. But for Capt. Gabriel Huntley, it’s become quite real and quite dangerous…IN HOT PURSUIT…The vicious attack Capt. Gabriel Huntley witnesses in a dark alley sparks a chain of events that will take him to the ends of the Earth and beyond—where what is real and what is imagined become terribly confused. And frankly, Huntley couldn’t be more pleased. Intrigue, danger, and a beautiful woman in distress—just what he needs…IN HOTTER WATER…Raised thousands of miles from England, Thalia Burgess is no typical Victorian lady. A good thing, because a proper lady would have no hope of recovering the priceless magical artifact Thalia is after. Huntley’s assistance might come in handy, though she has to keep him in the dark. But this distractingly handsome soldier isn’t easy to deceive…
  • Juliet Blackwell is also one of the authors for the Art Lover’s Mystery series and has a fabulous new Witchcraft Mysteries series coming out in June.
    • Secondhand Spirits – Lily Ivory feels that she can finally fit in somewhere and conceal her “witchiness” in San Francisco. It’s there that she opens her vintage clothing shop, outfitting customers both spiritually and stylistically.  Just when things seem normal, a client is murdered and children start disappearing from the Bay Area. Lily has a good idea that some bad phantoms are behind it. Can she keep her identity secret, or will her witchy ways be forced out of the closet as she attempts to stop the phantom?

The rest of the authors I’ll be talking to I am familiar with, and have read some of their work, but not everything:

  • Vicki Pettersson is the author of the Signs of the Zodiac series and the fifth novel, Cheat the Grave, will be out May 25th.  I have read the first two novels – The Scent of Shadows and The Taste of Night – but I’ve heard there’s been some major plot points in the last two books, which puts me at a slight disadvantage.
  • Jackie Kessler is the author of the Hell on Earth and Icarus Project series.  I’ve read all of the Hell on Earth novels, but I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to get through Black and White before my interview next week.  Plus, there’s Jackie’s new series starting this fall with Hunger.
  • Jenna Black just ended her Morgan Kingsley series (which I’m sad about), but she is also the author of the Guardians of the Night series. Plus there’s her upcoming release of Glimmerglass on May 25th.
  • Keri Arthur is the author of the Riley Jenson (which will be ending with the May 25th release of Moon Sworn), Myth and Magic, Lifemates, Spook Squad, Ripple Creek, Damask Circle and Nikki & Michael series.  That’s a lot of books and I’ve only read the Riley series (but I do have Destiny Kills on my desk as well).
  • Ann Aguirre is the author of the Sirantha Jax and Corinne Soloman series as well as the Skin series as Ava Gray.  I’m caught up with the Jax novels, but Blue Diablo is still waiting patiently on my desk.

I’m also going to be talking with Nicole Peeler.  I’ve read her debut novel, Tempest Rising, and can’t wait to talk with her about Jane and Ryu, plus what we can expect from the second novel, Tracking the Tempest.

I could come up with questions for each of these authors, but I’m positive there are a ton of things I should be asking them regarding their previous works and I just do not know what they are.  So I’m looking for some help.  Is there anything you wanted to ask any of these authors about any of their novels or whatever?

Each of the interviews I have scheduled are planned for 30 minutes, give or take.  Whether they run shorter or longer, I don’t know – it all depends on what we end up talking about.  However, these will be the first interviews I’ve conducted in person and I’m deathly afraid of having awkward pauses while we try to figure out what to say.  So I want to make sure I take a lot of questions.  If you can think of anything, I would love to know what it is.

So if I haven’t said it straight enough yet – I’m looking for any help anyone can give me in coming up with questions for these authors.  If there was ever anything you wanted to know, now is the time to ask.

Disclaimer: I can’t guarantee that I will get everyone’s questions answered. With this being a live interview, my goal is to keep the conversation going and if something comes up, I’ll follow it. But I am taking a list of questions with me and I really do not want to have any awkward pauses, so the more questions I have, the better.
