Melissa Marr’s fansite is having a holiday charity auction going on now through December 22nd. There are eight gorgeous Wicked Lovely-inspired jewelry pieces created and donated by Rather Pheona. The ebay auction can be found here, and you can see other pictures of all items here. All proceeds will be going to the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
There’s a release date for New Moon. According to IFMagazine, New Moon will be released November 20, 2009, along with Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, Sony’s Planet 51, and the yet-untitled Three Stooges project.
Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist has a script review for the pilot episode of George RR Martin’s A Game of Thrones.
CONTEST ALERT – Anya Bast wants to know which book you would want of hers under your tree and she’s going to make it happen for three commentators. So head over to her post and list your favorite.
Lilith Saintcrow has a great follow-up article to her essay Angry Chicks in Leather that she posted over at Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist. Some of the commentators want to know what some good UF novels with ass-kicking female protagonists would be. What would you recommend? I came up with 6 good ones:
- Nightwalker by Jocelynn Drake
- Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
- Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
- Touch the Dark by Karen Chance
- Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn
- Full Moon Rising by Keri Arthur
Suburban Vampire has their best 2008 vampire entertainment poll still going on. Have you voted yet?
I’ll be hosting the 22nd Edition of the Bookworms Carnival with the theme of Anthologies. (I love anthologies, they are a great way to be introduced to new authors). I’ll be taking submissions up until January 23, 2009. If you’re looking for some great anthologies now, make sure you head over to Alpha Heroes were she’s having her Antholopalooza.
Patricia Briggs and Carrie Vaughn would be on my list, too – I haven’t read more than short stories by the others you list (yet). I’d add
Curse the Dark by Laura Anne Gilman
Ill Wind by Rachel Caine
Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison
Heart of Stone by C.E. Murphy
Greywalker by Kat Richardson
I would also include Kim Harrison, but the reason I didn’t is she was mentioned already. :)
For some reason, Ill Wind didn’t do much for me. I need to read more of that series, but the novel didn’t make me go out and get the second one. I’ve read more of the Morganville Vampires series than the Weather Warden.
I did not finish Greywalker. At least I don’t believe I did. I got bored with that one. Although I’ve heard a lot of people have loved it. I want to give it another chance.
I need to read the other two authors you mentioned.
