Counterfeit Sorcery

The contest for a signed copy (and bookplate) of Jaime Rush’s Touching Darkness ends tonight!

I wanted to mention a change that has occurred with LE and is effective today.  Whenever I mention a book, I try to link it to Amazon so you know where you can get it, if you’re interested.  That is no longer the case.  I am now linking to the Book Depository who has free international shipping and some killer deals (Bullet isn’t even out yet and they have it for 49% off).  Hopefully this will make it easier for anyone looking to get a book at a great price, regardless of where you’re located, and maybe help support LE at the same time.  One caveat, if I can’t find a Book Depository link, there’ll be a link to Amazon, so there’ll always be a place to find what you’re looking for.

Check out the gorgeous cover Kelley Armstrong has for her limited edition of Counterfeit Magic, a long novella that is part of the Woman of the Otherworld series.  Counterfeit Magic will be released by Subterranean Press in November.

Patricia Briggs will be taking part in a live chat as part of Penguin’s Water Cooler. Silver Borne is the featured book of the month and Patricia will be talking about it on Wednesday, May 12th at 8 p.m. ET.

Kalayna Price has posted an excerpt from her upcoming new UF novel, Grave Witch, which will be released October 5th.

Interviews:

Larissa Ione isn’t finished with our favorite bad boys from the Demonica series and will be posting free online stories featuring each of the brothers.  The first, Demonica: Overkill, is currently up and features Wraith and Serena.  Larissa has more fabulous news regarding a new Demonica spinoff series titled Lords of Deliverance.  This new series will feature the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and begins with Ares’ (War) story in Eternal Rider and will be out March 2011.  The question does come to mind on whether this new series will end at four books (since there’s four horsemen) or if it will go on, but we’ll have to see.

Laurell K Hamilton has posted the tour dates for Bullet.  There isn’t as many stops this time around and it looks like they will be doing something a little different since there will be ticket and pre-register information coming soon.  For those who are curious, here’s the bare bones:

  • June 1 – Chicago, IL (kick-off event): An Evening with Laurell K. Hamilton at the Music Box Theater (sponsored by Borders Books & Music)
  • June 3 – Seattle, WA: An Evening with Laurell K. Hamilton at The Town Hall (sponsored by University Books)
  • June 4 – Huntington Beach, CA: An Evening with Laurell K. Hamilton at Barnes & Noble
  • June 6 – Houston, TX: A Conversation with Laurell K. Hamilton at Murder By the Book
  • June 9 – St. Louis, MO: An Evening with Laurell K. Hamilton at the Mad Art Gallery (sponsored by Left Bank Books)

We’re starting to see more of the Burning Up anthology.  Nalini Sin has added an excerpt for her contribution, Whisper of Sin. Featuring Angela Knight, Nalini Singh, Virginia Kantra, and Meljean Brook, Burning Up will be released August 3rd.

Anthologys are a fun way to find new authors and Subterranean Press is offering a whole new collection from some great fantasy novelists.  Some of the authors you’ll find in Swords and Dark Magic are Joe Abercrombie, Steven Erikson, Glen Cook, KJ Parker, Robert Silverbeg and a ton more.

SciFiGuy has another fabulous Weekend Report.

Random House has posted the first chapter to Kelly Meding’s second Dreg City novel, As Lie the Dead, which releases July 27th.

The things I miss…Yasmine Galenorn has been posting excerpts from her upcoming novel, Night Myst, and she’s already posted Chapter 1 and has Chapter 2 coming in at least three parts: Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. I’m not sure if the third part concludes Chapter 2 or not, so make sure you on Thursdays for each new addition.

The Book Vixen is looking for book reviews to join a blog tour for the fabulous MMP release of Shiloh Walker’s The Missing.  If you’re interested, make sure you head over and check out the details.

Harper Collins has Chapters 1 and 2 up for Kim Harrison’s Early to Death, Early to Rise, the second Avery Madison novel.

So I have to ask, did everyone enjoy the RT Feature I had up the last two weeks of April?  If so, Dark Faerie Tales will be running her version for those attending the Book Expo of America.  If any authors plan to go and would like in on the action, head over to Dark Faerie Tales for all the details.

The Book Expo of America takes place Tuesday, May 25th – Thursday, May 27th at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York, NY. BEA is the largest gathering of publishing professionals, attracting between 20,000 – 30,000 industry executives and influencers—it’s the place to be if you are working in or want to work in the publishing industry.

Alpha Heroes is letting everyone know she’ll be posting her edition of the Bookworms Carnival, which focuses on Arthurian Literature, on Wednesday.  If you want to add anything, Nicola is still accepting applications.

The Australian Romance Readers Association has announced their finalists and there are some great names on the list.  Congratulations to everyone!

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
