Cover Art Survey

31 October 2009 Jackie 0

I came across this survey over at Tez Says earlier this week and thought it would be kind of fun to do. So here we go…

Just to follow Tez’s lead, I’ll give my demographics: I am a 29 year old SAHM in Metro Detroit. I am a book enthusiast with no delusions of being an author and will typically try any kind of fantasy and/or paranormal author, however I do prefer some kind of romance in my stories.

Is it wrong…

…that this amuses me? My local Meijer (super grocery store for those not in the Great Lakes region) may just have needed the space to expand the YA section since it took up the entire previous aisle.  But I would have assumed they would have had at least one self […]

Dark Incarceration

27 October 2009 Jackie 5

When did tridents become a weapon of choice? I’ll be honest, the story for The Dark Storm by Kris Greene isn’t too new, but the trident is totally rocking the cover and has my interest. The Dark Storm is set to release February 2, 2010 and if you want more information, the lovely Kmont at Lurv a la Mode has it.

The Galaxy Express has an interesting article on Branding Science Fiction Romance (Part 1). This came about after the Does Science Fiction Romance Need a Gene Roddenberry? article a week or so again and there’s a pretty good discussion going on.

Waking Bearskin

26 October 2009 Jackie 4

SciFi Wire is reporting that Charlaine Harris has announced the end for the Southern Vampire/Sookie Stackhouse series. In her recent interview with CNN, Harris said she has a contract for 12 Sookie novels and that will probably end out the series. It doesn’t sound like she was solid on ending the series at 12, but she doesn’t want Sookie to get played out.

Check out what SciFiGuy unearthed (via Fantasy Dreamer’s Ramblings)…it’s the cover for the next Women of the Otherworld novel by Kelley Armstrong. Waking the Witch will be released August 3, 2010 and features Savannah in her own adventure. SciFiGuy has the blurb, so head over if you want to see what Savannah is going to be up to.

I have had 3 submissions for the Urban Fantasy stop of the Bookworms Carnival.  THREE.  I know there are people out there who have read a UF that has been published since 2000 and I want a link to your review.  The deadline was the 23rd, but I won’t be […]
