About Sarah

A 30-something mother of a teenage (going on 30) daughter, I read between 4-8 books a week. Between work, chauffeur responsibilities, and reading, I don’t have much free time . However, I do like to knit and crochet in the winter (quality scarves and hats are highly underrated!). My favorite genres are urban fantasy, contemporary romance, and paranormal romance. I tend to binge read when I find a great new series, so I love to discover new-to-me series that already have several books out.

Born of Fury by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Aliens, assassins, and war are (of course!) a winning combination in creating any epic love story.  Though, maybe Born of Fury by Sherrilyn Kenyon (Book 7 in The League series) could have been a little less epic in length.  It’s helpful to read each book of this series in order.  Extensive backstory […]

After the Blood by Marjorie M. Liu

10 September 2014 Sarah 1

Amish. Vampires.  Need I say more?  Didn’t think so.  A standalone novella set in a dystopian world devastated by plague, After the Blood by Marjorie M. Liu is rife with imagery and mystery.  The blurb certainly got my attention, and the story of plague and semi-sentient forest more than lived […]

Wickedly Dangerous by Deborah Blake

I’m a huge fan of fairy tale and mythos re-imaginings, so a new take on Baba Yaga grabbed my attention right away.  Deborah Blake’s Wickedly Dangerous follows Barbara Yager, one of the three Baba Yagas covering American territory, after she’s been summoned to investigate the mysterious disappearance of young children.  […]

A Shiver of Light by Laurell K. Hamilton

Laurell K. Hamilton’s Merry Gentry series is one of my favorites. With lots of sexy fae, mystery, and incredibly damaged (and demented) rulers, Merry’s life is never boring. I didn’t even mind the wait (ahem, sort of) between A Shiver of Light and the previous one, Divine Misdemeanors. There were so […]

It’s In His Kiss by Jill Shalvis

You know those books or authors that you can always turn to for a good, solid read? Well, Jill Shalvis is one of those authors for me, and her newest Lucky Harbor book, It’s in His Kiss, did not disappoint. Both hero and heroine, Sam and Becca, are used to giving […]

Lucifer’s Rogue by Colleen Gleason

13 August 2014 Sarah 1

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of historical fiction or period pieces. However, an easy way to get me to pick one up is to add some sort of supernatural element (in this case, vampires). Recently re-released with a new title and cover, Lucifer’s Rogue (f/k/a […]

Death’s Rival by Faith Hunter

6 August 2014 Sarah 0

Have you ever had one of those moments when you opened your big mouth and said something that caused an impressive domino effect of craptastic events? No? Just me? Well, Faith Hunter’s Jane Yellowrock really put her foot in it, and Death’s Rival is all about the aftermath. She didn’t even […]
