Working for the Devil by L. Saintcrow

25 August 2007 Jackie 0

One of the new authors I’m checking out is Lilith Saintcrow and her series involving Dante Valentine. The premise is even more futuristic than Keri Arthur’s Riley Jenson novels and a slight take from the Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake series. The first novel Working for the Devil introduces us […]

Tempting Danger by E. Wilks

20 August 2007 Jackie 0

While looking for a new book, I came across Eileen Wilks Tempting Danger. This novel revolves around Lily Yu, who is a detective in San Diego and she becomes involved in a case that changes her life. She’s introduced to the close-knit society of the werewolves (who are legal citizens), […]

Ashes to Ashes by J. Armintrout

17 August 2007 Jackie 0

So I just finished reading Ashes to Ashes by Jennifer Armintrout. It was kind of anti-climatic in my opinion. You get geared up for this big fight scene and then it’s over rather quickly. So quickly it seems that I skimmed through it [the fight scene] without realizing it. I’ve […]

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowlings

23 July 2007 Jackie 1

The end of an era, the world says goodbye to Harry Potter. Or has it? Even though I have heard that JK Rowling is ending the Potter series after book seven, I honestly don’t think it’ll be the end of the Potter universe. With Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, […]

The Turning & Possesion by J. Armintrout

29 June 2007 Jackie 0

I came across a new author the other day and I’m not entirely sure what I think of her books yet. Jennifer Armintrout has a series called Blood Ties. The first book in the series is called the Turning and it introduces us to the main character – Dr. Carrie […]

Storm Front by J. Butcher

27 June 2007 Jackie 0

Earlier this year, the Sci-Fi channel ran a new show called The Dresden Files. It was one of those mid season original series that only had about a dozen episodes, but Jesse & I were both impressed and I know I can’t wait for it to come back next season. […]

Lean Mean Thirteen by J. Evanovich

26 June 2007 Jackie 1

Lean Mean Thirteen is the latest adventure for Stephanie Plum. This time the adventure involves her ex-husband Dickie Orr and about 40 million dollars. As usual, Stephanie just happens to get involved in the case when Ranger asks her for a small favor. When I first found these books, I […]

the Harlequin by LK Hamilton

25 June 2007 Jackie 0

I can stop pacing the apartment now!  I finally got my hands on the latest Anita Blake book – the Harlequin – and I have to say, it was well worth the wait. The succubus/incubus relationship that has been predominate in the last couple of books takes a back seat […]

Undead and Uneasy by MJ Davidson

21 June 2007 Jackie 0

Undead and Uneasy is the latest installment in the Betsy Taylor series by MaryJanice Davidson. While I’m a big fan of this series, I have to say I wasn’t that crazy about this contribution. It just seemed like the main character, Betsy, did more complaining and there wasn’t that much […]

Jacob by J. Frank

19 June 2007 Jackie 0

Since it is the first novel in the Nightwalkers series by J. Frank, Jacob explained a lot of the little things that were missing in the second novel, Gideon. Of course, if you’re going to read any series, you should start with the first novel, but I didn’t find Jacob first. I have to stand by my review of Gideon. It’s a good change to read about “good” demons instead of the kind everyone wants to destroy. It’s going to be interesting to see how this series continues. The third novel in the series is coming out later this year and I’ll definitely be checking it out.
