Duncan, Card, Macallan & Estep Winners

Contest WinnersBefore I get to the winners of the contests that just ended, I wanted to remind everyone about the current contests going on:

  • We’re giving away a copy of the anthology Supernatural, which includes stories by G.A. Aiken, Alexandra Ivy, Jacquelyn Frank and Larissa Ione Contest ends October 4th.
  • I’m giving away two sets of Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love’s Belador series – Blood Trinity and Alterant. Contest ends October 15th.

Now on to the winners….

JN Duncan

I had the fabulous JN Duncan on Literary Escapism discussing the difference in time an author gets between writing a book and reader feedbacks. While he was here, we gave away a copy of Deadworld to a lucky reader. In order to enter, all anyone had to do was answer: How do you feel about fan interaction with the author on a series of books? Would you like to know that reader feedback can have an effect on future series content? Now, without further ado, the winner is:

ERINF who said: In this day and age readers can interact so much more with authors than I think is healthy. I’m not a writer, never will be and I deeply respect the talent and resolve it takes to write a book. And I love escaping into the world that *they* created. Not me.

I think that I would stop reading a series if I felt that the author has lost control of his/her creation by giving into reader pressure to stop creating and to start conforming. I know that authors are subjected to waaaay more harassment and pressure by readers with the extension of social media and they can feel like the whole world is against them. But they are the creators and masters of the literary world they’ve created and they can’t give into readers to give up that control. If I wanted things to be a certain way, than I should write my own book.

The authors have the right to create whatever they want, how they want it, when they want it. It’s not up to me as the reader/consumer to tell them how, when, where, why. Instead of harassment, as a reader, I demonstrate how I feel about the direction an author is going by *not buying* the next book or future books. That’s it. They don’t need my input into how to write the book. Just validation that I enjoyed it, and I want another.

Congratulations ErinF!

Jess Macallan

I had the fabulous Jess Macallan on Literary Escapism discussing Emotional Geometry 101 — The Conflict of Love Triangles. While she was here, we gave away an ebook of Stone Cold Seduction to a lucky reader. In order to enter, all anyone had to do was answer: What emotional issue do you love to see characters overcome? Now, without further ado, the winner is:

LISA B who said: I love to see characters who have been hurt by love overcome their insecurities and lean to trust/love again. Yes, I’m a hopeless romantic and I SO want to win this ebook. (I love gargoyles and phoenix, too.) I just won Sarah Gilman’s Out in Blue, maybe I’m on a roll. LOL

Congratulations Lisa!

Melanie Card

I had the wonderful Melanie Card on Literary Escapism talking about writing in between the spaces. While she was here, we gave away an ebook of Ward Against Death and the original winner has yet to contact me.  So I get to draw a new name. In order to enter, all anyone had to do was answer: To you prefer it when books stick to one specific genre or do you enjoy those that write in between the spaces?  Unfortunately I had to redraw the winner, so without further ado, the new winner is:

VALERIE R who said: I like books that cross different genres, although they have to be well written ,and have a good plot. If it sounds completely ridiculous and doesn’t hold my interest then i won’t read it. As long as it is interesting and has a well developed plot and characters, and was well thought out then I will enjoy it.

Congratulations Valerie R!

Jennifer Estep

Last week, the fantastic Jennifer Estep stopped by LE to share an excerpt from her new release Spider’s Revenge. While she was here, we gave away an ebook of an Elemental Assassin novel – winners choice.. In order to enter, all anyone had to do was answer: How do you feel about fan interaction with the author on a series of books? Would you like to know that reader feedback can have an effect on future series content? Now, without further ado, the winner is:

SHERRI (from UrbanGirlReader) who said: I’m only on the second book (I was missing it and finally bought it when Border’s was closing) so I need to catch up a bit on the series. But what I loved about Spider’s Bit was Gin’s kick-butt attitude and her mysterious background. I can’t wait to delve further into Gin’s life! Best of luck with the new release.

Congratulations Sherri!

Winners!

Just as a reminder, if you’re one of the Picture Book Contest or Signed Edition winners (which were announced here and here) and you haven’t emailed me yet, do so immediately.  I’ll be wrapping up the books when I get home from the hospital and will be going to the post office this weekend.  If I haven’t heard from all the winners by Thursday night, I’ll be drawing new names.

You have until October 7th to send me an email at jackie AT literaryescapism DOT com, with the contest you won in the subject line, otherwise I’ll draw a new name when I post the current contest winners.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
