Rogue is now on sale, go get it if you haven’t read it yet. Need more convincing to get it? Read below for my review…
One thing I like about series is the ability to read them out of order. You can do this with most series that doesn’t involve the same person over and over (i.e. The Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon or the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong). That’s not to say that if you do read them in order, you’re not going to be rewarded either. Rogue, by Rachel Vincent, is a lot like this. While reading it, I never once had to think back to what I read in Stray (the first novel for newbies). However, the events in Stray did lead to the events in Rogue. In Rogue, someone is killing strays and they make their first mistake when they take out a Pride member and everyone is out for blood.
I’ve been a fan of this author since the first book and she continues to keep me entertained with her second. While there was one part of the plot that I totally saw coming (and I think most people will if they have read Stray), the situations that came about because of it were not expected. Vincent continues to develop the relationship between Faythe and Marc, and she even threw them a curve ball. The angst she puts them through is intriguing and this new obstacle is going to make it even more interesting to see how they handle it.
Overall, I completely enjoyed this book. This is one author who is going to be on my “automatic buy” list. I will say, while the first two books seem like they could be read out of order, I have a feeling that the third novel, Pride, will not be that way. It’s due to come out this fall (yippee!) and focuses around the consequences of something Faythe has done in Rogue.

Amazon keeps recommending this to me, but I don’t know anyone else who has read it so thanks for the review and recommendation. I like series of urban fantasy so will keep a look out for it.
Thanks, Jackie! I’m glad you liked it. ;-)
