For June, Literary Escapism held a mini challenge featuring the débutantes, the virgins, the first-timers and the goal was to read up to 5 new authors sometime during the month.
Within 30 days, 5 bloggers discovered 19 new authors and read 19 different novels, which resulted in 19 reviews showing up on the web. Not only did everyone post these reviews on their own blogs, but it appears that all the reviews were posted at least in one other location. This would definitely be a first for the New Authors Mini-Challenge – not a single book was repeated. Sweetness! Check out all these reviews that showed up:
- Nightshade by Andrea Cremer – reviewed by Tynga
- Blood Song by Cat Adams – reviewed by Donna S
- Claire de Lune by Christine Johnson – reviewed by Tynga

As with all the other mini-challenge, for every review posted, I gave each participant had a chance to win their book of choice from an author who has been reviewed during the mini challenge. As with the previous challenges, each participant had 10 chances to get their name in the drawing – 1 entry for each book reviewed (up to 5) and an additional entry for a second place you review said book. For June’s challenge, the winner is BECKY with her review of The Iron Hunt by Marjorie Liu.
As always, I determined the winners by inputting all the entries into the List Randomizer, scrambling it up a couple of times, and then had the Research Randomizer pick a number.
August is just around the corner and I’m starting to think of what the next Mini-Challenge theme will be. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Not only is August around the corner, but we’ll have two more challenges before the end of the year.
I love these challenges, Jackie! I especially love seeing what everyone else is reading so I can add more to my own TBR stack!
