Check it out.  The PEARL Awards have announced the finalists for 2008 and there are a few on the list that I am estatic for!  Here’s who I’m rooting for and here’s the complete  list.

  1. Paranormal AnthologyHotter than Hell
  2. Fantasy or Magical RomanceAcheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon
  3. Futuristic – I haven’t read any, so I don’t have a favorite
  4. Novella/Short StorySpellbound in Everlasting Bad Boys by Cynthia Eden
  5. Science Fiction/Fantasy – I’m conflicted on this one since there are three that I enjoyed: Grimspace by Ann Aguirre, Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs and From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris
  6. Shapeshifter – this category gives me a lot of trouble since I’ve read all but one (and want to read the one I’ve missed) and they were all fabulous.  So whichever novel wins in this category will make me happy.
  7. Time Travel – I haven’t read any, so I don’t have a favorite
  8. Vampire – I haven’t read any, so I don’t have a favorite
  9. Best Paranormal Romance – I’m conflicted on this one since there are four that I enjoyed: Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon, One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost, Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs and From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris
  10. New Author – I’ve heard great things about all the authors listed, but I’ve read Jocelyn Drake and Ann Aguirre and I loved their novels.  So I’m going with those two as my picks.

Suburban Vampire has an update on the new Vampire Film Festival that is going to happen in October in…where else…New Orleans.

Jenna Black announced the title for the fifth Morgan Kingsley novel in her February newsletter.  It’s going to be the Devil’s Playground, but no word on a tentative release date.  She’s still working on it, so I’m going to take a guess and say sometime early next year.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
