Vampiric Twilight

Jeri Smith-Ready has an interview with Nancy Haddock. She writes the Oldest City Vampires series. The first novel is La Vida Vampire and is now available. This is her debut novel, and I have it on my TBR list, I just haven’t had a chance to get my hands on a copy yet. Considering the series takes place in St. Augustine (one of my favorite cities to visit), it should be interesting and it sounds like it’s going to be a fun read.

Here’s an interesting article for you. International Vampire Mythology was writing by Archetype Writer.

Modern mythology surrounding the Vampire is attributed to south eastern European countries like Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania. The general belief that Vampires are reborn from the corpse of a person bitten by a Vampire during life was contracted from the original myth, which claimed witches, evil people and suicide victims would rise from the grave in the guise of a Vampire.

Adventures in SciFi Publishing has posted their latest podcast. This time, they are talking to Charlaine Harris and Josh Rountree.

The Scifi Genre Review has an interview with Vicki Pettersson on her new novel, The Touch of Twilight. If you’ve been reading her Signs of the Zodiac series, Touch of Twilight is the third novel and Darque Reviews has already given their opinion on it. If you’re new to the series, you can check out an excerpt for the novel here, but I would definitely start with the first two novels – Scent of Shadows and The Taste of Night. In my opinion, Scent of Shadows and Taste of Night, the series is good so far, but not your typical paranormal. Don’t let the idea that the heroes are called superheroes throw you. It did for me and I didn’t get as interested in the series at first. Once I got past that, I truly enjoyed the stories.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I read these books last year when they first came out and LOVED them. They are really edgy, and bit darker than I think most people expect when you hear they are about “Superhero’s” but damn they are good.

I was really disappointed we had to wait a year or more for the third book, since the first two came out so fast, but she quickly went to the bestseller lists and the waiting began. I’m hoping to pick this one up when I hit the bookstore this week-end.
