Picture Book Contest: Day 1

The monkey officially begins school right now. Yes, right now at 8:30am the doors to his preschool open and he’s running through them.  We’re both so excited.  He’s been looking forward to the start of school, why I’m not really sure, but he loves school.  Me, I’ve been looking forward to him being gone for 7 hours, 5 days a week. I finally get why parents start counting down the days of summer vacation the minute the bell rings on the last day of school.

At the same time, I’m a little sad.  This is the monkey’s last year of preschool. The last year I get to dictate whether or not he goes and for how long.  Next year is kindergarten and I totally don’t feel like he should be that old.  He’s my little baby and he’s growing up so fast.

I really don’t want to think about that, so let’s think about that fabulous haul I made at the many Borders stores I hit this past weekend.  Last week, the facebook page for LE hit 2600 likes – my god you guys are fabulous – and to thank everyone for sticking around LE, I wanted to do something fun.  I also wanted to do something different. I came across the perfect contest, browsing the aisle at Borders.

Check it out.  I found 3 copies of Patricia Brigg’s Moon Called Volume 1, 2 copies of Charlaine Harris’ Grave Sight: Book 1, LA Banks’ Dawn and Darkness: Volume 1, and Jim Butcher’s Storm Front: Volume 1 and Welcome to the Jungle – all of which are graphic novels – and I am so not keeping them all.  Every day this week, I’m giving away a graphic novel, but the contests will only be open for 24 hours, so make sure you stop by to see what the days’ picture book is. *grin*

Today, you have the chance to win LA Bank’s Dawn and Darkness: Volume 1.

LABanks-Dawn and DarknessFollow the famed Neterus and the Neteru Guardian Team from the epic 12-novel Vampire Huntress Legend series as they take the fight against evil beyond the Armageddon. In the Dawn and Darkness graphic novel (collecting the four-issue series), the team is still searching for the wounded Anti-Christ while trying to avoid the wrath of Lucifer. Complicating matters, several members of the team are pregnant with the next generation of Warriors of Light, and the darkness wants them and their unborn wiped off the face of the planet. To make matters worse, a new predator is hunting humans – something not wholly vampire or werewolf or like any demon they’ve ever encountered… and this time the predator is out for more than just blood!

There is now an official giveaway policy, so if there’s any question, please consult that.  However, all of LE’s contests have gotten simpler.  All you have to do is answer this question: Which novel would you love to see turned into a graphic novel (and it can’t already be in the works? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered.

The contest will close at 8:30am EST tomorrow morning – you only have 24 hours. I’ll determine the winners with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have this weekend.  I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
