Black Friday Contest: Heart of Steel by Meljean Brook

Black FridayWhat is a Black Friday without a few gifts and surprises? Meljean Brook wanted to be here, but due to deadlines (and we totally want more stories, right?), she was unable to participate. However, she’s sent along this fabulous beauty instead: Heart of Steel.

MBrook-Heart of SteelAs the mercenary captain of the Lady Corsair, Yasmeen has learned to keep her heart as cold as steel, her only loyalty bound to her ship and her crew. So when a man who once tried to seize her airship returns from the dead, Yasmeen will be damned if she gives him another opportunity to take control.

Treasure-hunter Archimedes Fox isn’t interested in the Lady Corsair — he wants her coldhearted captain and the valuable da Vinci sketch she stole from him. To reclaim it, Archimedes is determined to seduce the stubborn woman who once tossed him to a ravenous pack of zombies, but she’s no easy conquest.

When da Vinci’s sketch attracts a dangerous amount of attention, Yasmeen and Archimedes journey to Horde-occupied Morocco — and straight into their enemy’s hands. But as they fight to save themselves and a city on the brink of rebellion, the greatest peril Yasmeen faces is from the man who seeks to melt her icy heart…

We are giving away 3 copies of Heart of Steel and I know you want one. *grin*

Meet Meljean Brook!

Meljean was raised in the middle of the woods, and hid under her blankets at night with fairy tales, comic books, and romances. She left the forest and went on a misguided tour through the world of accounting before focusing on her first loves, reading and writing–and she realized that monsters, superheroes, and happily-ever-afters are easily found between the covers, as well as under them, so she set out to make her own.

Contest Time!

Meljean is giving away a copy of Heart of Steel. To enter, all you have to do is answer this one question: What kind of steampunk treasures would you like to find during your holiday shopping? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered. (US/Canada only)

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support the author by sharing their article, and this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

All Black Friday contests will remain open until December 31st at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have. Have you checked out the other Black Friday contests yet? Check out the Master List to see all the Black Friday giveaways

I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I love the Steampunk stuff! I would love a dress with those cool boots. I have also seen a steampunk computer online. I loved The Iron Duke and can’t wait to read Heart of Steal.

  2. I would love to win a copy of this book! I’m very partial to those cool goggles that people wear on the airships, maybe with a fun scarf to go with them.

  3. Santa,

Bring me those Goliath and Scott Westerfeld inspired steampunk goggles. All big and chunky like that, and the series on audio.

  4. Steampunk treasures of all kinds I want, but what I would really like to see underneath my tree, a leather utility belt with hooks and pockets and everything else!

  5. I’d like to find an airship pirate who wanted to come home with me… **grin**

Barring that, I’d settle for some Steampunk bling: some old gold clockwork earrings, perhaps. Or a fascinator — I’ve always wondered what I’d look like with one of those :)

  6. Besides lots of steampunk novels, I’d love to find some fantastic steampunk goggles and a lovely steampunked-out watch during my holiday shopping.

I adored The Iron Duke and I can’t wait to read Heart of Steel.

  7. I’m not a huge jewelry wearing person, but I think I’d totally love to find some of the vintage jewelry. Mostly necklaces, I think.

  8. I would like a new locket watch necklace because my old one doesn’t work anymore. That and lots and lots of books :)

  9. BOOKS!! i also love just watch parts to play with.. and ive seen some awesome pocket watches and pendants that look awesome.

  10. I would LOVE a copy of Heart of Steel!

As for steampunk, there are some fantastic pieces of jewelry, eyewear, hats, & tops I wouldn’t mind seeing under my tree.

  11. I just want some goggles! Not even sure what I’d use them for, maybe housework or driving, but I think they’d look awesome with my recently dyed blue hair:)

  12. I would love a jacket with lots and lots of handy pockets, with a pocketwatch in one (I always need to stay on time) and goggles around my neck (so I can safely bravely the snowstorm). :)
